Hey guys! Check out this video my GRANDpa made me. I asked him to make it, and within a few days it was done!!
Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjan2tWOkIU
Ok, Dad and Julia made it back safely! They went from Tri Cities Airport to Charlotte and from Charlotte to Phoenix and then to Sacramento. Grandma's going to spend Christmas there, and will probably be coming back pretty soon sometime in January. It was both of my cousins' birthday, and they were there for that, too.
We are going to have a guys' night here Saturday! It's going to be so fun!
We are just going to play cards and maybe PS3!

Tightwad Tuesday ~ A Tip To Make Using Milk In Baking And Sauses Cheaper

.
A Tip To Make Using Milk In Baking And Sauses Cheaper
.
I have been trying to recall ways or habits that I do without out really thinking to make our dollar stretch further. One thing I have done for years in my baking is it to dilute 1/4th 2 % milk or whole milk to 3/4ths water of what the recipe calls for.
.
for example.... if the recipe calls for 2 cups milk I use 1/2 cup of milk( what ever type you want) and then 1 1/2 cups water.
.
Also in soups I use 6 parts of chicken broth to about 1 part of cup of milk or in my white sauses. I don't miss anything b/c the broth is so flavorful.
.
for example.... 6 cups chicken broth and 1 cup milk.
.
I hope the examples make it more clear.
.

Hii, every one!! So I’m pretty sure I failed when I said I was going to try to keep up my blog, but I hope to do better this time!! One of the reasons I haven’t been here is because of “Facebook” (besides being incredibly busy!!) but I quit my facebook, and soon found I miss writing on line and talking to friends, and quite frankly missed the homeschool blog and every one on here!! So I hope to get to talk to all of u again!
So I think its been over a yd since I wrote anything on here, & a ton of stuff had happen since then but I seem to not be able to think of anything right now…..
Lets see……

Well, we had our first camp this summer! It was a all girl teenage camp. Even though we had plenty of kids running around all week. It went really well and I know for a fact that all the girls can’t wait to come back next summer!! I was able to be one of the head counselors, and I really enjoyed working w/ the girls and I learned a ton of stuff too!!

We had another camp later in October, this time it was a family day camp. And that was sorter but it went really good. All the family’s totally enjoyed it, I don’t think there was one family there that dint tell me more than once how much they enjoyed it!!
I think one of the reasons that the parents enjoyed it so much— is with all the things family’s try to do these days, rushing hear and there doing this and that, in the end they don’t really ever get to slow down enjoy the life Yahweh had given them and enjoy there family!! The family’s totally took it easy with there family, got to have fellowship with other Christians, and had a lot of fun at the camp!!
And how could the kids not enjoy it with hayrides, bond fires, and horse back riding!!
I will post picks of both the camps as soon as I can, but if u would like to get to see a really good post on the All Girl camp u could go to my
~~~mom’s blog~~~ .
Thats just one of them though, I think she did nine or ten of them!! There all great, and the pics are a lot of fun to look at even if u dont have enough time to read all of them!!!
We have also taken several trips this last fall and I hope to write about them & put some pics!!
And then there is the Tea Party I did for my sisters 11th
Birthday, that one
will be a fun one to write about!! It was a really cute party, but I think my mom is going to beat me to that one, I’ll still write something about!! =)
And then we had two baby horses born last spring, my mom has also done two totally awesome post on that!!, but I’ll put some picks up on my owned blog. There’s a lot more that has happen then that, but I guess I’ll write about it as I remember. J Ok well I’m really happy to be back on
Weekly Wrap Up~December 12th, 2009
Posted By
Canadagirl
(to join the fun head on over to Carol's by clicking the graphic)
.
From the Heart:
.
Ohhhh it feels sooooooooo good to be putting up a Weekly Wrapup ! It has been sense August 22 sense I have writen one. My life is getting a bit more managable. My craft faire is done and went really well. I will still show pics but I have to get them from my 1ds' cell phone. Now what is on my heart ? I have been wanting to get my home to be running more like a smooth ship. Is that possible ??? I am starting to wonder, lol. This winter break I am going to TRY to read Simply Charlotte Mason's "Laying Down The Rails" a Charlotte Mason Habits Handbook and Sue Patricks's "Workbox System". I am not a very organised person and I am praying these will help. The other book I want to order is" How to Organise (just about) Anything" by Peter Walsh and his DVD "It's All Too Much". I am praying that if I apply these I will start getting things under control !
.
I have been keeping my head just bearly above the water with the basics but I know my little homeschool can be so much more life giving. I am praying that with the help of the Lord we are going to be there in 2010.
.
On the Homefront:
.
We are seed cleaning time and I am refocusing on our studies.
.
In The Garden:
.
The garden is put to bed and we are cleaning seeds for 2010 seed sales.
.
In the School Room:
.
On Sunday the boys are in a play " The Prince and the Pauper". This paticular play has the slant of the King is God and the Prince and the Pauper are Jesus and how he came to earth to save us and one day we will be brought home to the Kingdom (heaven). It is a wonderful play !
.
We are refocusing and reading lots. I am trying to get my boys to write more. This is not a natural thing for them and I am trying to get to a space where it is more natural for sure ! Going to find natural ways for the boys to express themselves in writing.
.
Nature Study:
.
This is one area I am going to get going again.
.
In The Craft Corner:
.
I am crocheting fingerless gloves and want to get back to knitting socks. The boys are making wonderful paper snowflakes, making a boat from popcicle sticks, getting ready to sew up felt pencil holders, and flannel pj bottoms. The other goal I have is for the boys and I is to learn how to sew up ripped jean knees.
.
In the Kitchen:
.
Going to be making all kinds of goodies. Fudge, gingerbread people, short bread, sugar cookies, and more. We will get to taste a little but most is saved for New Years Eve Family get together.
.
Weightloss Wednesday:
.
This week I hope to get back on schedule with my Walk Away the Pounds with Leslie Sansone
.
Mother Culture:( for definition go HERE )
.
I mentioned in "From The Heart " what I am reading. Other than that I am reading the bible to enrich and give tools for my life.
.
Things are still trying to set aside 15 minutes a day to read. As the flylady says .... you can do anything for 15 minutes. So I just need to set my timer. [0= |
Hey girlies!
Along with the monologues I've been giving on different subjects, I'm going to start a project called "the theme of the month" which'll be full of fun things that you girls can do with your sisters, brothers, or guy and girl friends. Most of them will be girl-related, but some of them you can do in a group.
We'll be starting in January. Until then, please give me theme ideas. For instance:
May: Music appreciation month
activities:
- Get together with some of your friends and jam while eating popcorn and drinking soda.
- Make cookies in the shape of music notes!
- watch the sound of music with your sister/girlfriends
etc.
Only you think of ones you want to do!
Help me out here!
Thursday Talkin' About Teenagers ~ December 11, 2009
"Got teens? You lucky dogs.
Spend time with them; enjoy them; listen to them; and love them.
They are the most incredible people, these emerging adults,
and they can become the best friends you'll ever have."
.
This week I wanted to share about my other teen, Luke. He is very talented but very different than my oldest Philip. Luke is my mechanic minded guy. He can listen to a car running and tell you what may be the problem. He is looking into the idea of being a helicopter mechanic.
.
He has also established himself as a strong and hardworker in our little town. During the warmer months he is always being called off to work on many different kinds of jobs. Working to bring in the hay, working on fixing boats, yard work, house painting, carpentry and soooooooo much more.
.
It has been so neat (as a mom) to see how these boys have been growing up into becoming wonderful young men. It has really re-assured me that they will do fine when the time comes to leave the nest. Also, amongst all these wonderful skills Luke is my main babysitter. I have been very thankful for all he has done for us time and time again. I know I can leave for a day( like when I was in the craft faire ) and everything will be fine and well taken care of. What a blessing and a peace of mind it gives me.
.
I have really enjoyed counting my blessings each week. This meme helps put me in a good frame of mind with my young adults who are establishing themselves in who they are. If you have a young adult yourself I pray you will join us in this wonderful meme !
Christmas Parade and Indoor Soccer..MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!
Posted By
Joyful24
Hey Everybody,
Soooo sorry that I haven't posted in a while. I have been meaning to but it is soo busy around Christmas time so you undertand, right? I usually post for writing in school but there has been so much going on that I have had a lot to write in my journal so I have been doing that for my writing. A lot has been going on lately.
We set up our Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving! When did everybody else do theirs? Ahhh! I can't wait untill Christmas! Only two more weeks exactly!! Indoor soccer has also started! I haven't had any games yet, but I have two tomorrow at 4pm and 6pm. I had an indoor soccer practice though. I"m really excited about our games. GreenPeppermint had a game Saturday but they lost 8-5 I think. Graham also had his first indoor soccer game ever. He has never played indoor soccer but this year he wanted to play. He was realllly excited about his game! Lol! I kept running up and doing chest bumps with the other players on his team...wierd. Then after they scored their goals Graham ran up and hugged his team mate! Lol! He was funny out there. He played really good though. :) They ended up losing 7-2 though. I think Graham liked indoor though. Right now he is singing around the room about school or something. Fields is reading and GreenPeppermint is playing with Quinn. :) Dad also had an indoor soccer game Wednesday. He plays soccer on the coaches indoor soccer team in the winter. It is really fun to watch him play. He played really good. They ended up in a tie, 5-5.
Last night we went to a Christmas parade. First we went to a friends house and waited and two other family's came and then we walked to the parade. We waited for a while and then the parade started. I only got about 8 pieces of candy because there were toons of smaller kids right by and I don't really like taking all the candy. Lol! I didn't really care though. MBF, GreenPeppermint, and my toes were sooo cold. We couldn't even feel them they were so cooold. It was the coldest my toes were ever before. They were blue when I took my shoes off. The parade was neat. I think my favorite float was probably the grinch float. :) I like the grinch. Afterwards we walked home with our freezing cold toes. Then when we got a little bit away from our friend's house we started running because our toes couldn't stand it anymore!! We finally got inside and took our shoes off and put our poor, freezing toes by the fire. Lol! Then we ate dump cake and hot chocolate. It was really good. After a while we let because we had to drive all the way home and we live about 45 minutes away. Next year I think MBF, GreenPeppermint, and I will wear warmer shoes. ;) Well, I have to go now. Bye!
Your Friend, Felicity :) |
CA and school stuff
Posted By
LeviMarkSuarez
Ok, yesterday Mom and I went to the airport and dropped Dad, Julia and Grandma off because they are flying to CA. They will be there, and then Dad and Julia will fly back. (They will be back very soon though!) The reason why they are flying there is because my Grandma wants to spend Christmas with some family she hasn't seen in a LONNNG time.
Julia is going because she doesn't get to go on that many trips with JUST DAD! So, it's her turn now!
So far little Chloe is doing pretty good! She's growing, and Mom says that she is kicking a lot!
We were going to go to a party Saturday for our friend's graduation, but Paulie has WAY too much school so we aren't going to be able to make it. :(
We are going to a dance on New Year's Eve! It's going to be fun! Our whole church and more will be there!!
For Christmas we are going to have some fun! Not sure EXACTLY what we will do yet though. We are still planning it all out.
Tightwad Tuesday ~ Two Good Winter Make Ahead Mixes
.
Two Good Winter Make Ahead Mixes
.
Now that we are in the thick of the time of year that a lot of us like to make casseroles. I wanted to share two great recipes to help make them more frugaly. These recipes save you anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2 half the cost. Once again your time is spent no matter what so you mine as well make it yourself and put the extra change towards something special.
.
Onion Soup Mix
-
3/4 cup of instant minced onion
-
1 Tablespoon and 1 teaspoon onion powder
-
1/3 beef or chicken flavored bullion powder
-
1/4 teaspoon crushed celery seed
- 1/4 teaspoon sugar
.
Mix and store in a airtight container.
To Use : add 2 Tablespoons of mix to 1 cup of boiling water. Cover and simmer for 15 min. or add to recipe as directed.
.
Cream Soup Mix
.
- 2 cups of dry milk
- 1 1/4 cups of flour or cornstartch or arrowroot startch
- 1/4 cup chicken bouillon powder
- 2 Tablespoons dried onion flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 1 teaspoon basil
.
Mix all ingredients and store in a airtight container. If the mix is made with cornstartch or arrowroot startch , add 1/3 cup to 1 1/4 cups of water. Or if you are using the mix with flour then use 1/2 cup of mix to 1 1/4 cups of water. If you want to make it to soup consistency then double the water.
