The Astro-Cam
|
Incredible!! I've watched the astronauts spacewalking on the Internet and it's amazing. If you have hi-speed internet, you have to check out nasa.gov for LIVE pics. of the astronauts working on the international space station and space shuttle. There's live audio too, so you know what's going on. And to see Earth in the background...WOW!!
News here on the ground: My oldest daughter is leaving for two weeks to visit her grandparents in Ohio. The first week there, she'll be attending their church's summer camp. She's excited but nervous too. It's a big step for her as her first big trip from this far from home. We're going to miss her!! I now she'll have a great time.
The summer is just moving along. I haven't decided yet when our first day of homeschool will be. I was thinking maybe September 1st. I need to start making preparations, you know, some type of weekly planner type thing. Any suggestions or materials that any of you use will be much appreciated!!

Jul. 10, 2006 - Homeschool Planners

I have used and am still using "The Homeschool Planbook" by Sarah Crain. I love it. You can look at it on www.homeschoolplanbook.com. There are a couple of different styles, depending on your needs. I use the Elementary Edition--one for each of my children. The Family edition is another option for more than one child. I like the El. ed. and am used to it and didn't want to switch.
I don't tend to plan by the week. I plan by the day--in pencil. If we get it done, it stays. If we don't get it done, it gets erased and moved to the next day. I do make up a schedule (subject to change) of what subjects to do each day, so I know what I am trying to do.
At the end of the year, my plan book is my record of what we have done. There is place to put field trips and projects in as well as many other helpful things, including place for state requirements, and standardized test records (if you have them).
I have looked at other planners and not liked them as well. This one is definitely set up for homeschoolers from start to finish.
Just my 2 cents,
Karen

In 2 1/2 weeks I will be going home to MN and then planning our school year. I usually do not write down what we do until I do it with them but I will be changing that this year. I need to be more structured so I will have my goal sheet for every week for all 4 kids. I will not allow myself any fun until the list is completed so that my kids will be better educated. I have been reading others blogs about what they all get done in a day and I fall short and I want to do it too so I am going to give it a try. We will be using more Abeka this year and it makes things smoother for me. August will be fun reading what everyone will be teaching this year.

This is Angie:) I have enjoyed catching up on your blog. It sounds like you have been very busy and having lots of summer fun!:)
Our summer has been soooooo busy that I have hardly been on the computer and have not blogged in nearly three weeks!.
As I read about your tiredness, it made me think of your sweet Annemarie and her health....hmmm..... could it be contagious?:):):):)
Have a great day and God bless!:)
