We Made It to the Pumpkin Patch

Well, we made it to the pumpkin patch.  It did end up being delayed a week.  Everyone had a really great time.  We walked through a corn maze, picked apples and then took a wagon ride.  Of course, there were a few simple rules to follow before everything was started.  For my 5 yo, those rules made her just a little nervous.  Let me tell you about them.

The very nice gentleman that owns the farm was the one that "laid down the law".  It was basically this:

1. Don't eat the purple berries you might see, they're polkweed berries.  If you eat too many, you'll die....

2. If you feed the goats (totally optional), cup your hands like this (he demonstrated) and you won't get any fingers eaten off...

Okay then, my little one if grabbing for me to pick her up in tears saying "I don't want to feed the goats."

So, you can see why she was slightly TERRIFIED!!  Poisonous berries and finger-eating goats....what kind of field trip is this????

Seriously, it was absolutely great!!  We picked the cutest little pumpkins and got them all carved up last night and they're sitting on the fireplace!!  There was also apple cider and fried pies!!!  YUMMM.  We bought a gallon of the cider.  My middle daughter says it's the best juice she's ever tasted!  It was a cold Fall day, but very sunny and beautiful.  What a great field trip!

I love having my kids at home!

talk to children! When one of my kids was in preschool a firefighter came and decided that it would be a great idea to turn all the lights out and put on his mask so the kids could see what he would look like if he were coming to rescue them in a fire. Maybe ok for older kids but for a 3 yo!!! It took years before he didn't cringe when he saw a fire truck.

Sounds like you had a great tiem!

I'm glad that you made it to the pumpkin patch. I debated but getting out on a cool morning with a new baby was more than I wanted to contend that day.
Have a great weekend!

Thanks for your comment. My dh is not doing well.:( His foot is healing slower than he hoped, but I guess right on schedule for a bone. It looks like he will be home with us for another 2 weeks, but probably another 4. Now however, his MS has flared up and he is having trouble with his eyes. He is seeing double and his balance is off. He is discouraged, but hanging in there. Please pray for us!:)

I am looking forward to Bible study and hope that I will be able to make it regularly.:)

Have a good day and God bless!

Glad you had so much fun and are loving having your girls home. We went to that same pumpkin patch with my sister and her family the first of the month. And, we came home with all our fingers. You should have seen my dad out chasing the chickens, though. Maybe we should take him the next time the hs group goes!

Marissa was on Kellie's blog today, and we saw that you have an interesting 2 months? Didn't know if you wanted it publicized, so I'm talking in code! : ) I will be praying for you. I'd love to know what's happening.
