Dad's Cancer Has Made a Return

One of the really good things we had going for us as a family was the wonderful news that Dad's lung cancer was gone. Today, though, we got the results back from his routine PET scan, and the news is not what we wanted to hear. Dad had several tumors in his other lung, one that is pretty large and near the apex of the lung. There is possible infiltration into a lymph gland as well. Crazy thing is, the right lung that had the original tumor is fine...not a thing showed up there.
I am in shock. Total and complete shock. Dad looks great. His color is good, and he has more energy than I ever have had. He really seemed to me to be as totally back to good health as can be expected for a man 82 years old. How on earth can there be all these tumors in the other lung now?
We have an appointment with the oncologist at 7:45 in the morning to decide what to do. Dad has always said that if the cancer came back, he would refuse treatment and "let nature take its course." I don't know what he will decide to do now.
Please pray for him, and for me. I just can't believe this is happening.

I am sorry to hear this news. I hope the great news of the adoption going through can help ease some of the pain and anxiety with this unhappy news. We will be praying for you. The children are very cute by the way!
