Thank you all so much for your prayers for my Dad. He is doing much better, and will be released from the hospital tomorrow. He'll be spending a few days at the nursing home where my sister is Director of Nursing, just to make sure that his meds are regulated properly to prevent another occurence like this.
It ended up that the MRI showed absolutely no sign of either a stroke or a spread of his cancer to the brain. Thank God! The doctors believe that Dad went into an atrial fibrillation attack that caused him to have the episode where he nearly lost consciousness last Thursday. They put him in the cardiac step-down unit Friday night, yesterday, and part of today to monitor his heart, and sure enough, that was the problem. The cardiologist has now adjusted his meds to take care of the problem. He came in yesterday morning and said "This is something I can fix!" Were we happy to hear that!
Now that we have Dad on the mend, we have my mom-in-law's cancer surgery tomorrow at 2:30. She will be having a complete mastectomy and reconstruction. We'll find out how much lymph node involvement there is, and then will know if follow-up treatment with chemo and radiation will be necessary. Either way, the surgery is going to be a difficult recovery, and it will be a long, hard spring.
Just as a side note, my Aunt Ginny is also in the same nursing home that my Dad will be in. So they can "hang out" together. I think that Dad being there will help Aunt Ginny try harder with her therapy and rehab, and they will both kind of push each other on. Now if we only had Aunt Mary a bit closer. Her doctors are still trying to decide how to treat her colon cancer.
Please continue to keep all my loved ones in your prayers. Thanks so much!
