My New Grandsons are Here!
Posted in The Adoption Journey for Our Future Grandchildren
Well, not HERE here, but at my daughter and son-in-law's house. They arrived this afternoon by plane from the state of Delaware, and will be staying until around noon on Friday. The adoption caseworker flew out with them, and the boys will be staying alone with Chelle and Josh till it's time to go back.
Thomas was very eager to come, but Ronald was not quite as sure about things. He had found Ohio on a map, and now realizes how far away from his foster family and school friends he will be. It will be a big adjustment for everyone. City to country, one family to another, black inner city to a nearly all white rural part of Ohio, a small family to a very large one, noise all the time to complete silence other than listening to the corn grow, and so much more.
Chelle said they would play it by ear as to whether Mike and I get to meet the boys this trip or not. We don't want to overwhelm them! But I hope that we will get a chance. I bought them each a Cub Scout handbook for their age group to take back to Delaware with them, since Josh is planning on getting them involved in Scouts this summer. I signed them "Love, Grandma Kathy." I hope they will be willing to accept the love that this grandma has to offer them...
Please pray that this visit goes well, as that will make the transition so much easier for everyone involved. Especially pray that the Lord will give Chelle and Josh the wisdom and guidance they will need to parent two older children. (Ronald is 9 and Thomas is 7.) The boys will be here permanently as soon as their school is over for the year, sometime the first week of June.

Praying for their visit, Kathy, and that it might work out that they get to meet you and are excited to have a loving grandma!

What a great step of faith. I will pray for these little ones and their new parents as they transition into a family. The Lord holds them all in the palm of His hand.

Hi!
I saw that you added me to your (very long) list of friends! Thanks!
I have visited your blog before, and found it to be very interesting. I recognized your name from the Vegsource boards, where I occassionally go to shop for homeschool curriculum (love a good bargain!)
I am hoping that all is going well this week for your dear daughter and son-in-law as they are having a chance to spend time with their new sons! How very exciting, and what an awesome step. I'm anxious to read more about the visit (so I'll be adding you to my list as well).
Thanks again,
Heidi

How awesome. We adopted 2 little girls, internationally. One came home at 6 months and the other at 1 year. I wish I had the energy to adopt more. My heart is willing, if it's ever in the Lord's will to adopt a little boy-maybe 5-8 yrs. old. I admire your children, and I pray it is an easy transition for everyone. I know at an older age, it will probably be harder, but when we didn't get to bring Daniella home until she was one, I was concerned. I told my girls (2 of whom were with us in Guatemala) that she would probably cry, and might take time to adjust. We prayed so much for her, and others prayed as well for her transition. And, do you know, she never even whimpered. She bonded with us faster than the 6 month old. She's never had any difficulty at all. Even though they are older, I hope these boys will take to their new family, and feel like they have "come home". How blessed these boys will be. (And, I bet it won't be long before they adjust to the fun of the country!)
I saw you added me to your friends list. Thanks, and I hope you'll stop by often. I just posted some pics last night of my girls in the mountains.
