Kathy's Belly Aching
Posted in Just Our Day-to-Day Life
I thought that I would do a little belly-aching about my belly ache. Today has been a bit better day. Knowing for sure what was wrong has helped tremendously. Even though I still hurt badly, I know that it is a hurt that will go away with proper care and watching what I eat. That is so much better than worrying about cancer!
The doctor sent me the official CT Scan report, and it says that my transverse and sigmoid colon are both "corkscrewed." I read that and thought no wonder my insides feel like they do! I don't remember in studying biology that colons are supposed to be corkscrewed! OUCH!
The medicine they give for this is the same thing they give for amoebic dysentery and other strange intestinal illnesses. Let me tell you, those pills taste BAD!!! Nasty, nasty, taste the second they touch your tongue. You can't swallow them fast enough to avoid the taste. Yuck, yuck, and yuck again.
Want to know something totally unfair about all this? I have hurt and felt ill for about 3 weeks, and had very little to no appetite. I ate next to nothing! And when I weighed myself today, I was UP 2 pounds---just how can that happen to a faithful Blubber Blogger? I thought for certain that at least something good would come out of feeling so crummy, as in losing about 10 pounds from not eating. Dream on, Kathy... Oh, well, it was a nice dream, that is, until I stepped on the scale and reality woke me up...
Thought that I would pop in and say hi, and let everyone know I am
alive and well. Now it's back to the couch to eat some yogurt. I don't know if their is any truth to my theory, but I am hoping that the "good germs" in the yogurt will help heal my poor, sore colon! At least it's worth a try!

I feel your pain. I've been working on an ache for a couple weeks too. Maybe I should go to the doctor so that he can find out what's wrong with me too! Your post is much more positive sounding than mine on the subject!
Just thought I'd say hi and commiserate with you for a minute. Yogurt sounds good right now... I'll have to get some tomorrow :)

I hope you feel better soon, Kathy! Have you maybe been drinking lots of water since your appetite has been poor? That may account for a little of the gain.
I would also recommend taking a PRObiotic like Tummy Tune-Up to get the good bacteria in your gut. Oh and see if you can put that medicine on the very back of your tongue and then swallow. Blech! I once got penicillin stuck on my tongue until it fully dissolved-- yucky!!!
Praying for you! I cannot imagine a corkscrewed colon! Ouch!
Love,
Marsha

I'm thankful the drs have been able to find the cause of your pain. I hope they can get it under control quickly and that maybe you can resume eating some of the things you love---at least on occasion.
Your adoption journey sounds as though it is proceeding wonderfully. I pray God will continue to bless your family in this.
