Jun. 3, 2008 - Knott's Berry Farm!

Remember? We bought annual passes this year!?

The boys wanted to go to Knott's today, so we packed some snacks and away we went. We checked out Ghost Town this time. We read the signs and talked about the Assay Office, the Chinese Laundry, and the Barber Shop. The Blacksmith was busy with a school group, so we didn't get to talk to him. We took a look around the Gun Shop and bought some paper caps we had been searching all over for. Then we went to the school house and talked to resident teacher about what school was like in the 1800's in a one room school house.

There is a new ride open called the Pony Express. It is a kind of short roller coaster. And it isn't very exciting, to me. They boys liked it. It is pretty ingenius though. You ride on a row of horses and the safety stuff for it is pretty neat. We talked all about the real Pony Express. Tom had read a book about it and was telling us all about it. The only question they had was why? So we talked about how horses couldn't run forever and stopping to rest or look for a new horse would slow them down. So they set up places to trade off, like a relay race.

So it was a pretty good "school" day. Not bad, since the boys insist that they are on summer break! :))
