Visit with the Great Grandchildren
Hello family and friends, as most of you know, my Mom got to come up from Alabama and spend the last week with us here in Indiana...And she got to meet her great grandchildren. It was love at 1st sight... A great time was had by all, it just went by sooo fast, and before we knew it, it was 8 days later and time for Mama to go back home. Thank you LORD for giving us this special time together..

This is Nanny holding Emma with Gabe...

This is Nanny with her 1st (r) and 2nd(l) grandsons...Derek and Adam...

We spent Sunday afternoon here ...

The buildings on both sides of the Canal are homes, well one side is apartments and the other side is condos... Very pretty...This must be the apartment side, cause the condos have front porches with ceiling fans and hanging baskets of flowers...We walked down the condo side first and 3 miles later (lol) when we were on the other side, I must have been too tired to take any pictures of the prettier side ...Oops...

View from the bridge..
Well, hope ya enjoyed the picture show, I will be posting more in another entry...
Have a blessed day,
Cathy...

My Darlin' is my hubby Tim. He is a Husband, Dad, Son, Son in Law, Brother, Uncle, Paw to 2 granbabies, Born Again Christian, who likes to hang out with the family, thrift shop, collect hotwheels and childrens books. He is a hard worker and a good provider and is always willing to help out in the flower beds and the veggie garden. He just laughs when I want a new plant and don't have a place in the garden to put it and asks ' what color do ya want today?'
My Darlin' lost his Dad, his Hero, last September. This was a very sad Father's Day for our family. We did get together and cook-out on Sunday. We laughed and cried as we remembered him. We thanked GOD for all the good years we had together.
My Darlin' and I will celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary this October and I pray that our Lord gives us 30 more....

After the Storm
The important thing is faith- the kind of faith that works through love. Galatians 5:6
Symbols are important. Some of them, like communion and baptism, illustrate the cross of Christ. They symbolize salvation...but they do not impart salvation.
Putting your trust in a symbol is like claiming to be a sailor because you have a tattoo...
Our God...saves us, not because we trust in a symbol, but because we trust in a Savior.
We have gotten a lot a rain in Indiana lately. We don't normally pay much attention to flood warnings, but this one is closer than ever. Roads are washed out and even the interstate was closed for a day. So many people have been affected by this flood, up to 4 ft of water in their houses. It is so heartbreaking to see all their belongings in a pile in front of their houses, waiting to be hauled away.. Local churches are setting up shelters everywhere. Please send them your prayers.

Hummingbirds in the Garden
It's hummingbird season! They are back, and the first day one was spotted, the feeders were all cleaned up and fresh food was made just for them. Now the garden is blooming and the birds prefer their nector. We have lots of blue columbine, that has spread itself all over the garden, (I can't bear to pull them out, they even come up between the rocks in the border) and these are the first place to look for the hummies...I haven't been able to catch one on camera yet, they are fast little beauties...I am still trying!!!
I stumbled upon a website with an awesome selection of flicks and want to share this one with ya. These are sooo much fun to make, but sadly this one in particular will only show 9 pix.. Soo, off we go to make some more fun flicks...
Happy Hummingbird Season!!!

Waking up to a kitten licking your nose!!!
Hey, I thought you might like an update on the kittens..They are sweet and cuddly and are being handled by the neighbor's children so they are not afraid when you reach out to touch them, they are not shy, they like to come up in your face and lick your nose..I personally luv that..lol..They do like to sleep on our bed, with their mama, and it is such a joy to wake up in the morning with 4 or 5 kittens asleep on the bed. I will sooo miss that.. I am taking tons of pictures and enjoying every minute of it (well almost every minute, cleaning up after 7 cats is not alot of fun) Three of the kittens have been spoken for. 2 girls and 1 boy. I won't let them go until the kittens are 7 or 8 weeks old. At 5 weeks they are already eating kitten food and drinking lots of water.. Well thats all for now.. Thank you Sarah for helping me out with the scrapblog...It worked!! Have a blessed day... Cathy

Faithfully Praying for the Lirette Family
This past Sunday my best friend lost her man in a horrific traffic accident. My heart is breaking for her and her beautiful family. A God Loving family. This family is so close and so full of love that you just want to be part of it.. I met them when they moved into the house next door to my Mama. We became friends on that first meeting. This family is so giving, doing anything they can to help out their neighbors. They make you feel special. They were selling produce at a farmer's market and invited me to come along. We had such fun together in those days. That is a summer I will always remember as one of the very best.. We had some really great gardens that summer. And we talked about having an even bigger garden the next year. When Mama's tiller was broken down, Elgin brought theirs down for us to use. Then he fixed ours. That's the kind of man my friend had, a man who worried about other people and how they are getting on. Mama lives by herself , so Elgin would do things that she couldn't , like cutting up the tree that fell on her barn, and then cleaning and sorting the stuff that was in the barn. He noticed a tail light was out on her car, so he fixed that for her. Always doing what he can to help somebody who needs it.
God Bless you Elgin Joseph Lirette Jr. , you are in our hearts forever...

Hey ya'll, the hubby and I love to shop at thrift stores. You just never know what ya might find there. Last week I was lucky to find these aprons. One of my most favorite things by the way... I like to collect aprons. The older, the better. I think I got my love of aprons from my beloved grandmama, who wore one every day. Sadly I don't own any of hers. But I do have lots of good memories of her and her aprons. Hope you enjoy these pictures of my apron collection... Happy collecting...

Hello family and friends. Here is my latest knitting project. A Lacy knit hat for Emma Mae. This yarn is sooo soft. It is a very pale yellow. And this pattern is sooo easy. And it looks so fancy. I am very pleased with it. The down side, it doesn't fit Emma....Too big.

I really enjoyed making this hat and I will make more with this pattern. You can find this pattern at knittingonthenet.com/patterns/babypetalhat

Good morning my family and friends..I have been busy making more soap and wanted to share some pictures with ya.. This is Coffee soap. I used double strength coffee instead of the distilled water. Then at trace added some coffee grounds. Smells great, but as it aged the smell is very faint. This well be ready to give at Valentines.
I really like the way these Coffee Heart soaps came out. This soap makes great lather. I will use this recipe again.

It looks like soap!
Hope everybody has a great new year!! After reading quite a bit, I finally got up the nerve to make some soap. It really wasn't that bad. The lye didn't smoke or anything . The trick is to have the oils and the lye/water at about the same temp. Then stir and stir and stir, and wa la, I think it looks like we have some soap!!! We added some oatmeal (blended into tiny bits) to a basic white soap recipe. I like the way it looks, I hope it will lather, I will find out in about 3 weeks. I'll let ya know how it turns out..

In Loving Memory
In Loving Memory of Van B. Russell...My husbands father was born June 7th 1937 in Alabama. He is the oldest of 7 children, 3 sisters and 3 brothers. He grew up in the south, hunting and fishing to provide for his family. They had a vegetable garden every year, and some farm animals that Grandaddy Russell always got attached to. They gave all the animals (pets) names. And that was hard come slaughter time. But it had to be done. Van loved to tell us stories about his growing years, and we could listen to his stories all day long. Van B. Russell passed away September 19th, 2007. He was 70 years young. We will miss him every day for the rest of our lives. And we know that one day we will be together again because we also know that Van is with Jesus.. Thank you Jesus for taking such good care of him..Here are a few pictures we would like to share of our dear loved one..
