Going to Work with Dad...

Posted in Family
My two oldest were able to go to work with Daddy, today.  They were the only home schoolers there.  That always opens the door for a lot of questions.   It is interesting that I prayed for both of them very specifically today.  I sensed that they would be put into some situations they were not accustomed to.  My Darling Daughter Number One was the one bombarded.

They were asking her whether she had to take tests, if she had any friends and was she alone all the time, things like that.  Being a first born and very reserved, she does not like to "share her business".  She gets that from her dad (obviously not mom).  They seemed very interested in her supposed lack of friends.  Finally she said to them, "Even if I did not have friends, it would not matter to me because I have God and He is always with me."

I can honestly say that I did not cry.  I did realize at that moment how thankful I am that God led us to home school.  Never would I have had the courage to say that at the age of twelve to a bunch of kids I had never met before.

And the world says we have under-socialized children who will not be prepared for this world.

I think it takes a well-socialized person to speak up for herself in a situation like that. Most girls her age would just go along with everyone else. Brave girl!

It was encouraging to read this today. My kids are home schooled, too, but it seems they are very shy when adults speak to them. It drives me crazy.

Well bless #1's heart!

I'm not one lick surprised! (thought I'd throw another southern-ism in there for you)

You're children are more like social butterflies than undersocialized! Hmmm, I wonder where they get that from? I'd say they got a double dose!

What a blessing to be able to know where you stand at such a young age. I too, don't think I would have been able to answer that question like that at the same age.
