My Boy's Birthday!
My first son has turned SEVEN today! I cannot believe what a boy he is. He got up the morning and snuggled with me. I spent a half hour telling him about how sweet he was when he was born. Each time I would stop talking he would say, "Tell me some more story."
He had a treasure hunt to find his present from us. He ran around the house with his siblings right behind him looking for clues. The last clue he found in the house was that his next clue would be in his "lunch bag". None of them understood what that meant. I told them that they would have to wait till lunch to find out. When Wonderful Husband came in the door with The Golden Arches Supper Club, Birthday Boy dug through the bag and found his clue. His present was in the van all along!!! He received a remote control jeep.
He wanted a four-wheel drive truck cake. this was my attempt:
The cake is from scratch using fresh ground wheat flour. The donuts, though, ruin any of the saving grace that the flour brings to this cake. But it looks really cool!!
We went to the zoo. We finally purchased a membership again. I really wanted to feed the Lorikeets. We had a wonderful time. Well, most of us did. My youngest son ended up in tears because the birds were a bit to "unpredictable". Birthday Boy was fine until he had four Lorikeets on his arm and one on his back. Here is a photo of Darling Daughter Number One feeding two Lorikeets:
At one point, she had six Lorikeets on her. I decided to start videotaping. It was at that moment that everything feel apart. Birthday Boy came unglued and I have a wonderful video of the wall with audio saying, "Um, darling...we have a little problem here." The last thing we needed was to have him melt down and start stomping the birds. The last footage I taped was my little guy getting ready to tear up. Poor fella!
Well, it was a full, eventful day. My day is going to finish in just a few minutes. My Wonderful Husband is in the backyard right now "camping" with the boys. It is a pleasant 47 degrees and they have not come in yet. They may be in it for the long haul. I do believe this is a birthday my boy will not soon forget!
