Where's The Beef???

I made my first bulk beef purchase!  I bought a half of a cow last Friday.  It is all very exciting.  After loading 200 pounds of beef into my freezer, my heart was certainly pounding!!!  Actually, the pounding did not truly begin until I thought it might not all fit!!

I was able to buy it at less than $5 per pound.  Honestly, the price was not my goal.  The goal was good, grass-fed, clean beef.  The price was just a little extra benefit.  Here are a few links to "whet your appetite" for something a bit more wholesome than you can get in the stores:

After cooking up my first package of ground beef and having absolutely NO fat to drain, I do not think I can go back!  I am truly getting what I paid for!!

How very exciting! I have hoped to get a quarter of a beef this spring, but was not able to. I'll try again in the fall! Enjoy your wonderful beef!

BTW, I'm going to look into getting that book you recommended. I need a probiotic book!

I make kefir, use raw milk, and will begin brewing kombucha later this week. Now I need to be able to better explain why I'm doing these things!

I can relate to the heart pounding over whether it would fit or not!

We're pondering the idea of trying to get a steer to raise...someone suggested we see about getting a male baby at the local dairy, we might be able to get a decent deal, since they don't need the males. Still in the pondering stages, though!

Thanks for the links at the end! I've been wanting to buy grass-fed beef forever and just never got around to researching it or remembering to research it when I was at my computer! I found a place near to us and I am most excited to explore just how much we can buy and fit into our freezer! I'm very thankful for an upright full freezer in my garage! Now ... I can fill it with yummy beef!
