My Green Smoothie Adventures...
Here is something to make you laugh. I ventured into green smoothie world today! I followed a little recipe off the internet and then changed it, of course! I did a bunch of strawberries and 2 cups of water, some ground flax seed (dark brown and way too much) and then some kale and spinach with agave nectar.
Okay... The concoction started out red, then I started adding the other ingredients. This became a "brown smoothie" which didn't look good. I think I may have officially lost My Wonderful Husband on name alone. I didn't get a picture (don't ask me why).
My garden has lots of nice organic matter in it now. The flax seed made it smell not very yummy. Darling Daughter Number Two asked if it would be safe to pour it on our plants. I told her that if we are putting it into our bodies, the plants will love it!! Darling Daughter Number One tried it and didn't mind, but she is looking forward to some improvement. My little trooper! I even added some orange juice to "help"! Do not worry, though. I am not daunted! I will prevail (Lord willing) .

I do not usually add flax to the smoothies. It is very hard to get smooth with flax in it. Instead, I add freshly ground flax to muffins, bread, pancakes, oatmeal, etc.
When beginning GS, add more fruit and less veges, till the tastes adjust. Try a couple of bananas (they make it creamy and sweet) a carrot (also sweet) and just a handful of spinach leaves, or a bit of cabbage and kale and some honey. Do it like that for a few days, then drop the amount of honey, or one banana. Add a few more greens...soon you'll be expert at what tastes good together!
I have given a smoothie to my tomatoes more than once!
Be of good cheer!
