We have had a loss in our family this past week. My brother-in-law has been promoted to Glory. He was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer and was gone very quickly. My sister-in-law has been blessed with a Peace which comes only from our loving God. It is always hard to say goodbye, but God has been glorified through all of this. We celebrated his life last Friday. My brother-in-law is worshiping our Lord and Savior face to face at the foot of His throne. We praise God for His blessing of grace and mercy.

How many blogs have you flipped through that have this title?? Well, add mine to the list. My Darling Daughter Number Two has pneumonia. How do you get that?! She had a cough for about a week but no other problems. Finally, on Thursday, she ran a fever. Now they have her on medicine and I am pumping her full of probiotics.
Pneumonia is new to me. I have dealt with other things, but this is new. We have cancelled everything to the middle of the week, but I really do not want her doing anything for a while. We have been doing some homeopathic cough syrup and asthma treatment. She is very chipper most of the day. She has her down moments, though. She gets very down when she realizes all the things she is missing out on. If you think on it, please say a little prayer for her. |

Feb. 12, 2008 Do You Wonder What Life Is All About? Ask A Five Year Old...
Feb. 8, 2008 My Boy's Birthday!
My first son has turned SEVEN today! I cannot believe what a boy he is. He got up the morning and snuggled with me. I spent a half hour telling him about how sweet he was when he was born. Each time I would stop talking he would say, "Tell me some more story."
He had a treasure hunt to find his present from us. He ran around the house with his siblings right behind him looking for clues. The last clue he found in the house was that his next clue would be in his "lunch bag". None of them understood what that meant. I told them that they would have to wait till lunch to find out. When Wonderful Husband came in the door with The Golden Arches Supper Club, Birthday Boy dug through the bag and found his clue. His present was in the van all along!!! He received a remote control jeep.
He wanted a four-wheel drive truck cake. this was my attempt:
The cake is from scratch using fresh ground wheat flour. The donuts, though, ruin any of the saving grace that the flour brings to this cake. But it looks really cool!!
We went to the zoo. We finally purchased a membership again. I really wanted to feed the Lorikeets. We had a wonderful time. Well, most of us did. My youngest son ended up in tears because the birds were a bit to "unpredictable". Birthday Boy was fine until he had four Lorikeets on his arm and one on his back. Here is a photo of Darling Daughter Number One feeding two Lorikeets:
At one point, she had six Lorikeets on her. I decided to start videotaping. It was at that moment that everything feel apart. Birthday Boy came unglued and I have a wonderful video of the wall with audio saying, "Um, darling...we have a little problem here." The last thing we needed was to have him melt down and start stomping the birds. The last footage I taped was my little guy getting ready to tear up. Poor fella!
Well, it was a full, eventful day. My day is going to finish in just a few minutes. My Wonderful Husband is in the backyard right now "camping" with the boys. It is a pleasant 47 degrees and they have not come in yet. They may be in it for the long haul. I do believe this is a birthday my boy will not soon forget!

Feb. 1, 2008 Going to Work with Dad...
My two oldest were able to go to work with Daddy, today. They were the only home schoolers there. That always opens the door for a lot of questions. It is interesting that I prayed for both of them very specifically today. I sensed that they would be put into some situations they were not accustomed to. My Darling Daughter Number One was the one bombarded.
They were asking her whether she had to take tests, if she had any friends and was she alone all the time, things like that. Being a first born and very reserved, she does not like to "share her business". She gets that from her dad (obviously not mom ). They seemed very interested in her supposed lack of friends. Finally she said to them, "Even if I did not have friends, it would not matter to me because I have God and He is always with me."
I can honestly say that I did not cry. I did realize at that moment how thankful I am that God led us to home school. Never would I have had the courage to say that at the age of twelve to a bunch of kids I had never met before.
And the world says we have under-socialized children who will not be prepared for this world. |

Jan. 26, 2008 My Darling Daughter Number Two Turns Eleven...
I remember when my Darling was born. She was so sweet and tiny. At 6lbs 14ozs, she was smaller than her sister (later to be the smallest of my babies). She prides herself on being the tiniest. Through the years, she was a little, spirited thing. Her grandpa used to call her a "pistol". She was definitely full of spunk.
Not much has changed. At eleven, she is very determined. It warms my heart to see the fire in her. She is not "wishy-washy", but focused and direct. Yet, she has a tenderness that can melt your heart. She has a love for the little ones in her life, always caring for the younger children and making them feel safe and comfortable.
I sometimes wonder how she could get better, but I know she will. This is only the beginning of her life. She has no idea what direction she will go, but I can sense that she is getting ready for the ride.
