I saw this little guy running about the backyard the other day, and he just looked like he was posing..waiting for a camera to arrive. So, I couldn't let him down!
Here he is..

See these flowers? This is our patch of Alyssum, around the tree ring.
They have dainty, little white blossoms.

I just took these pictures last week... the middle of November!! and our flowers still look this good...
(we've been having some nice warm days lately)

A Homemade Christmas at SimplyVintagegirl.com

I've been working on some crafts for this upcoming Christmas. What I'm sharing with you this week is
Holly Berry Napkin Holders.

All the materials I used, were things that were around the house. I didn't have to go shopping for the items---but I did have to hunt them down!

It was very easy & fun to make! I wasn't quite sure at first how it would turn out, but I like the final outcome.

I grabbed my scissors and green felt...

...red ribbon and a few little jingle bells...

...then I found some gold cord and red pom-poms...

Once I located the hot glue gun, I could attach everything together.

The gold cord (with bells attached) was glued behind the holly leaves. The red ribbon was glued on after that, and tied around the napkin with a bow.

Pretty soon, I had a finished project!

A Homemade Christmas.)

Welcome to In The Bookcase's new blog layout!

As you can see, it's decorated in an Autumn theme.
I started working on it Friday, and finished most of it by Sunday. I'm still tweaking little bits of this and that.

What do you think?

I have some exciting news....
Yesterday morning I took my driving test and passed. This means I now have my driver's license!

I was very surprised at how easy that the driving test was! The most tasking thing that happened was at the beginning, the lady testing me was checking all of my front and back signal lights & brake lights. Everything was fine, until she noticed that the center brake light on the back wasn't working. So, my mom & I had to leave to buy a new bulb for the brake light. After that was settled, I finally got to resume my test with no more troubles.

The entire driving test lasted for only a few minutes, it seemed. There were 7 different stop signs/stop lights that I went through. I also had to drive in reverse for a few feet.
I thought I would probably have to park the car a couple different times (at least). But I only parked the car once in the test, and when I did, I had to position the tires as if I was doing an up-hill park. Thank goodness I didn't have to attempt to parallel park, because that would have been a disaster.

Basically, the test seemed like I just weaved my way through a few streets, and I was already finished. It was all over so soon! Anyways, I'm very glad it's done, so I don't have to worry about taking my test anymore. It's quite a happy feeling.

Recently, my family had the privilege of pet-sitting our neighbor's dog, while they were gone for a few days. Here are some pictures of our dog and their dog together...

Our dog, Terra (the Westie) and the neighbor's dog, Blade (the Dachshund)

"Hey, did you hear that?"

Terra

Blade

They got along great with each other, even though there were a couple growls, and maybe one friendly little nip.
Both dogs seemed to enjoy being together.

It was so much fun to have 2 dogs in the house!

I thought I would share with my readers the latest craft project I'm working on!

It is a Latch Hook kit. The finished project will look like this:

The picture does show a Christmas design, so I am planning to stick with my new project until I finish it... hopefully before Christmas!

This is a picture of the first row I did (it is the bottom of the latch hook design).

Now that I've been working on my latch hooking for a few days, I have completed 8 rows of it.
You can see the progress:

I thought you would also like to see my big pile of yarn packets....!!

I am enjoying my new hobby very much!

I was wondering if anyone else has done a latch hook project?

On Father's Day, we had a nice surprise in our backyard.
Right beside our tomato plants was....

We identified this baby bird's parents as a "Common Grackle".

The baby (of course) couldn't fly,
but it hopped around on the ground a bit.

The little bird's parents were noticeably calling out to their baby.
They perched nearby on the fence & around the yard.

I don't particularly think Grackles are very attractive.
Neverthless, isn't the little baby so cute?

Hello, join me here In The Bookcase!
This is a new chapter for me, as I begin the first entry of my blog.

I love collecting inspiring quotes from people and books. Here’s one of my favorites:

“Either write something worth reading, or do something worth writing.”
-by Benjamin Franklin

I enjoy writing stories--ideas are always popping into my head. I’ll be sure to share some of my writing with you. I also like to spend my extra time in reading--anywhere I go, I usually have a book in hand.

I’m always up for a trip to a book store. I’m satisfied with either used or new books. Used book stores are great, because I can find out-of-print books to complete a whole series. Finding an author or series that is new to me always makes my day more delightful. Books are such a pleasure!

While you are perusing through my blog, go ahead and click over to my website:
www.InTheBookcase.bravehost.com

Feel free to give your two cents about books, writing, (quotes!), and other related subjects.
Comments are always welcome.
Please enjoy your stay In The Bookcase & visit often!
