Let's Play Tag!

I have been tagged!

The '07 Weird Things Meme!

THE RULES: Each player of this game starts with the ‘7 weird things about you.’ People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 7 weird things as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose 7 people to be tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave a comment that says ‘you are tagged’ in their comments and tell them to read your blog.”

1) I walk into the kitchen at exactly 6:27 or 28 every morning after waking up (I check the clock)

2) I love to eat  raw things- like cookie dough or muffin batter.

3) I make flour tortillas almost every day.

4) I own about 10 bottles of body lotion, plus all the little travel sized ones I have.

5) We don't have cold water in our kitchen sink, we haven't had it there ever, since we moved in!

6) I am a total Trekkie! If you gave me a choice of buying a whole season on dvd of some show it would definitely be a Star Trek show!

7) I have run 47 miles this month!

I kind of had a hard time with this, but I'm sure if I checked with some friends they could quickly come up with 7 weird things about me :)

I'm off to tag 7 others....check your comments to see if you've been tagged!

Sick day

Today I have been sick.
I had a rash and a fever and a stomach ache.
We went to the doctor and she said it was just a virus. I just felt terrible all day long. You know that feeling where you feel like you are going to throw up but you just can't?!
Anyway... other than that, nothing has happened. No school today.

Tomorrow is church. I have been kind of out of it today, so I think I will not write anymore.
Oh, I love applesauce!

Weekends

Yeah, tomorrow is Saturday!
I am glad because we started back school this week and I am ready for a 2-day break. (Not a 2-week break, that would be too much)

NEwazes... not much happening at the Mc6 casa.
Wednesday, my friend and I went to the nursing home here to volunteer. We got some forms to become "official" volunteers. It surprised me  how many confidentiality rules there are.
My cousin is over here, he spent the night and we watched part of Star Wars Revenge of the Sith.

So this year I decided to start a 3-year bible study, starting with Genesis. I will read a couple of chapters a day and then find some resources to go more in depth when I finish (the plan allotted me 3 weeks for Genesis)

Yahoo! Today we are going to the library, I have 3 books in from intralibrary loan. See, we have a library system of like 6 libraries or something, so if there is a book I want and it isn't at the library we go to, I can request it from another. It is neato!

Killer Hot Dog/Hamburger Buns

Yesterday (New Year's Eve) I made some hamburger buns with the bread machine. They are to die for!
Put in the bread machine in this order:

1 cup water
1 egg
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup (four tablespoons) butter
3 cups flour

Set the bread machine on dough setting.
Let the machine complete the dough setting (ours takes 1 1/2 hours)
Take the dough out and put on a floured cutting board.
Shape the dough into a log shape and divide into 8-12 equal pieces.
Grease a baking sheet. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Shape the dough pieces into whatever shape you would like them to be (for hot dog buns, they need to be longer.) Put the pieces on a greased baking sheet.
Let rise for 10-15 minutes.
Bake for 12-15 minute.
Let cool and enjoy!

2007 begins

Yahoo! My first blog of 2007!

The party last night was fun. When I got there I played Texas Hold em'. I lost. I know what you're thinking! We didn't play with real money, we played with Cowboy Jock's poker chips. (Especially since it was a church party)

Then I played 42 (in case someone doesn't know what that is- you play it with dominoes) My parter and I lost the first game grrrr... then I played again with a new parter and we won! But I remember in the year 2000, we played dominoes and it seemed like the time just flew out the window- dominoes seem to drain the time away faster than anything.

Then it was 12:00! We were like yeah, woo hoo yeah, yahoo, yeah... zzzzzz. Seriously, everyone was really tired. Everyone kind of staggered out at about the same time, about 12:25.
Then I went to sleep!

So! Here I am in the year 2007. I LOVE being older!
Ha! Today I (got home at 12:30 a.m.) got up at 7:00 a.m. and ran 3 miles on the treadmill!
Then I made some juice in the juicer. And that is about it.
The year promises to be very uncertain!

New Year's Eve!

So today is New Year's Eve... Wow, it doesn't feel like it should be 2007.
Ha! Every single year I remember something that happened in 3rd grade - near the beginning of 2001. (I'll probably remember for the rest of my life.) I was still going to public school, and a boy in my class said something funny. He said "Aw man, I was getting real lazy writing all those zeros, now I have to stop myself and write a one at the end!"
I'm not sure why that memory in particular sticks, but it just does, you know? Some memories stick like that and you don't know why. *Thanks Sterling!* Like one time- gosh it had to be like 10 years ago now (ahh! and I'm only 15!!) one of our babysitters told me that if your nose is stopped up, you should sleep on your side and it will drain away.
Fun stuff, anyway today we are going to Sunday Morning Church but there is no Sunday Night Church (considering... you know, New Year's and all) But after that- we are going to a party for New Years at Cowboy plumbing man's house. It is for the entire youth group. I wouldn't be going except for the fact that 1of4 is going with a friend, so I can hang with them and not be a loner fly on the wall.
See Ya!

::Presents::

I am excited about what I received this year!
From my parents I got some shimmery eyeshadow (actually shimmery is my favorite- not all dark and sharp) and....... ready for this ..... you sure? A Sony MP3 player! Wow, I wasn't even expecting that! Here is what it looks like (except mine is white and the headphones are different)

So that was WAY cool. And my brother got me a speaker with an amplifier to use with the MP3 player. BUT it also works with my DVD player! Like, oh my gosh how awesome!! :-) So now i can watch DVDs while on the treadmill because it is loud enough.
1of4 got me a beautiful ring I have really been wanting, it is silver with a heart on it... I just love the design.
3of4 got me a mug that says "Sisters are special and I'm so glad you're mine" (or something to that effect) It was really nice of her to get me that.
My Colorado grandparents got me a cat ring holder, a blue scarf, a knitting set, a (gorgeous) blue jewelry set, and 50 dollars.
At Mr. and Mrs. G's house, they gave me a mini-digital camera! That was neat... now I can take pictures on trips and stuff. It hooks up to the computer directly, there is no card or anything. I am looking forward to taking some pictures.
My cousin gave me an angel ornament he made. It is pretty. My aunt gave me some lotion and body mist from Bath and Body Works (it smells soooooo good, you want to eat it!) It is black raspberry vanilla.

Anyway, fun stuff! It was a good Christmas.

Christmas Updates!

Hi! The Season has been busy and I haven't had time to write anything.
First off, the Living Christmas Tree was great! We all survived 4 performances from Wednesday through Saturday. (My back kind of hurt the first two days, but after that I got used to it) A lot of members from our church came to see it, so it was cool to see them from the tree. They said it sounded great. I hope I can see the recording of it. (I never have even seen a Tree performance isn't that insane?) But... I never did get to go to the very top of the tree just to see what it looked like. Maybe next year... :-)

My great-grandmother died on December 17 and so we woke up at 2 a.m. to go to the funeral (We had to travel 5 hours). I didn't know her very well. Her husband died oh, it must be 4 or so years ago, and I went to his funeral. Those are the only people relatively (oh, excuse the pun!) close to me. I felt a little bad because I wasn't crying like the other people there. I did feel very bad for Mr.G because he is usually so happy and content and he was really down. We got back at like 6 p.m. and I went to bed.
For Christmas Eve (a Sunday) we took the day off from church- oh my! how rebellious!- and we stayed home. We read the Christmas story and ate a Christmas lunch with ham, mashed potatoes and apple pie. Then we opened presents to and from the Music Man, Piano Woman, 1of4, 3of4, and 4of4 (and me.) Also, our grandparents from Colorado sent us some presents too.
More on the presents later...
Christmas Day we went to Mr. and Mrs. G's house. At their house we opened presents first heeheehee. I read the Christmas story this year and Piano Woman played (would you believe it?) Christmas music on the piano. There we had a Christmas smorgasbord of pickles, olives, peppers, crackers, chips, dip, turkey, ham, guacamole and other things too. The adults opened presents after lunch. Then everyone had cheesecake that Music Man made.
Overall it was fun and I must say one of the better Christamses (even though I didn't get into the spirit- I think that the "spirit" is gone, you know the child's Christmas spirit. Sad.)

Christmas Music

This year for Christmas I am in 2 cantadas. They both have the same music. One is at our church and one is at TMBC.
Music Man and 1of4 are in three, the two I am in and the community choir at the JC too.
The one at our church is first- on the 10th. It will be wonderful. The church is decorated beautifully with greenery and lights in the sanctuary. There is a tree in the corner on which each family will put their missions ornament before the cantada.
I think we have about 10 or so singing, and 2 narrarators. The pastor will read the Christmas story in the middle of the program.
I am singing a solo for the last song. No comment.
At TMBC, the living Christmas Tree there are a lot a lot of people. Like 70 or something. The tree is huge and immense and gigantic! It is the 25th anniversary of the Living Christmas Tree and Piano Woman was in program number 1- 25 years ago! Wow!
Like I said, its the same music, but it has a very different  feel to it. Since there are so many more singing than at our Church, the sound is bigger.
But also, being so high up is a different unusual experience. The tree is divided into about, oh, maybe 7 rows, one above the next- like bleachers. Kind of like this: (although this isn't the exact one I am in)

There is greenery where you stand- like a balcony and your head is where the next person's (above you) shins are. So, you are squeezed between a wall of greenery in front of you and a wall of greenery that your head and back are leaning against There are stairs on both sides leading up to the top that let you out on your row. It is tight fit though! The entry is very orgnaized- and I am very glad because it would be a mess if not!
The rows are high off the ground, but the tree is very secure so I am not scared. I'm not usually afraid of heights unless I don't feel secure.
Like if I was on a balance beam between 2 skyscapers, I would not be standing- I would be clinging for dear life to the beam whereas if I were on a balance beam 5 feet off the ground with a net- I would feel a lot safer. You know?
Anyway it will be fun! For TMBC we have like 5 performances in a row- AHHH! We will make it!

Resting!

Today I am not doing any income generating work. It's like the first Tuesday in 3 or 4 months free- wow!
Financial Peace University ended last week and Mrs. Thomas is out of town today.
BUT... Music Man just walked in the door like one minute ago and asked if I would help him set up for the Hospital's Christmas party tonight. Yeah! I won't be idle.
So I'm eating vegetable soup right now with carrots, cabbage and sugar snap peas. It also has cilantro and some ramen noodle flavoring. Matlock is on in the backround, I did all of my physical finess for today and I am one happy human!
Practice for the Living Christmas Tree continues.
The other day I bought a football because one that 4of4 had was flat. But the one I bought came with a pump so now we have 2! I am really enjoying playing with it, but I am afraid of the ball. 4of4 isn't weak, but he isn't strong either. Yesterday, some boys at children's choir were throwing it around, and when they threw it to me I couldn't catch it because it was too fast.
The fear of balls goes back to when I was playing softball and almost broke my nose catching a flyball. I truly hope I will get better at throwing and catching and shake my fear.
Piano Woman says Mr. G wanted to be a football coach, but had to go to war instead. I am thinking about asking him to help 4of4 and me with technique.

Venting...

Well the past couple of days have been a little bit- no actually very stressful. Mostly just the things that happen at home.
I might as well tell you, 3of4 drives me up the wall all the way to China. She is a sting in the bone and she does not do what is right. I am constantly angry at her. I just don't understand why she does the things she does! If she wouldn't try so hard to destroy my things, mutter under her breath mean things and flop around all the time and not do any work I might be able to cope with her. But no, all day every day (and we are both at home all day every day) she does these things.
And I get angry. I am OK at being somewhat calm most of the time but then I just can't take it, I blow up and it's bad. No but most of the time I just try to talk (OK sometimes yell) to her and tell her why she is in the wrong and when that doesn't work, I go tell Music man or Piano woman.
They have gotten so sick of both me and 3of4 telling on each other so they just get mad. I do understand that it is not good for any of us to be under this kind of stress all the time, I really do- Music Man and Piano Woman tell me that and they think it falls on deaf ears but it really doesn't. But I don't think they understand that I am enduring this from 3of4 too!
I'm not sure what to do, I guess not to get so angry.
I need to get that punching bag from Billy Blanks.com...

~DVD Player!!~

Oh yeah oh yeah I say! Today the UPS person brought me a package. Can you guess what was inside! It was a 7 inch Personal DVD player that I bought from Staples.com!
I originally was going to get a 6 1/2 inch one from WalMart or WalMart.com, but they sold out!
Actually it was the weirdest thing... Piano Woman saw an ad for an after Thanksgiving day sale at WalMart (Friday from 5am to 11am) And one of the things on sale was a Venturer Personal DVD player for $50. That's a pretty good price considering Piano Woman bought one for close to $300 like 2 years ago.
So... I was like, I am so totally getting one of those because I have a steady income nowadays. So the next day (after thanksgiving) at about 5:45- which is the usual time i get up I go to WalMart.com to place to order *Remember- the sale started at 5 am*
They were sold out already!! I mean what kind of crazy people would do that!
Well, as it turned out, a lot of places had aftet Thanksgiving Day sales. On Staples.com we found a 7 inch DVD player for $60! (I think it was a better brand and 1/2 inch bigger to boot!) Here's a picture of it:
Yahoo! So we placed the order and it came today.
It came with its own case, a remote, 2 sets of really nice headphones, and a bunch of cords that you use to plug it into the car and the TV and stuff like that.
Oh I forgot- it also snowed this morning, and it was 20 degrees!

Zebras

Ha! This entry actually has nothing to do with zebras, I just couldn't think of any interesting titles.
Today will be comfortingly normal. I got up, did my Bible lesson, did a 42 minute workout video, and now I am going to do the rest of my work.
After lunch we will jump in the car and go merrily along to the grocery store where we will bounce up and down the aisles cheerily in the store gathering items on our list which include the necessites of life- milk, eggs, butter and tomateos and apples.
Then, at about 7:00, we'll leave for Hobbs. Tonight is one of the Living Christams Tree practices. Our choir has been working on the music for it for a while and it will be nice to see it come together, with other choirs singing along with us. Taylor Memorial Baptist Church is where it is. They are having a lot of difficulties in that church. They lost about half of their staff, Music Minister, Youth Minister, Media manager, Older people minister, and I think maybe one other. (For various reasons I won't get into right now)
But thats about it-my day is just about as normal as it goes... I mean if you don't count that silver disc-like thing that landed in our backyard this morning. It wasn't that amazing, I mean, well, OK it was kind of cool like 13 ft. 11 2/3 inches in diameter... we measured it for our science project...
Ha- kidding. I won't wish for something exciting to happen because then something exciting will happen.

Emily the Prosecuter!

Every other Monday (roughly) we have Teen Court trials in Lovington. Mostly everyone in Lovington is aware of our program because it is very well supported.
But just in case one didn't know anything about it, it is a group of teenage volunteers who help kids our age.

When a juvenile gets a traffic ticket or is cited for shoplifting etc. they have the choice of either going to regulartraffic court, paying the fine, having the offense on their record and all that jazz, or they can come to Teen Court.
If they choose to come to Teen Court, they go through the process of being the defendent (like in a regular sentencing trial). They give a statement about what happened and meet with their (teen) attorney(s) who will be representing them in an interview.
When the trial begins, they take the stand, most of the time as the only witness. The two sides, Defense (representing the defendent) and Prosecution (representing the State of New Mexico) are both comprised of teenage volunteers.
The jury is also teenagers, although it is not volunteers. Once the jury reads the verdict, the defendent will be sentenced to a certain number of community service hours and a certain number of night of jury duty, based on the severity of the offense. Thus, the jury is made up of those who have been through the defendant status. It makes for a very good check&balance system.

I have been in Teen Court for just over a year, and my progress is painfully slow. When I say "roughly" every other Monday, I mean like on average about once a month. A lot of people have to have their cases rescheduled, or have their cases sent back, and sometimes, there just aren't any cases. But I have been getting better slowly but surely.
I and my co-councils won the last two cases we did (one as defense and one as prosecution). I am enjoying it more and more as I am gaining confidence. The kids are a little rougher than the church crowd, but they know that I desire for them not to cuss around me and have been really great about it.
Oh, I am ahead on candle sales! And whoever sells the most gets a $40 gift cirtificate or something to somewhere (I'm not sure) But YAY!

Thanksgiving

Well, thanksgiving did go well. G&G came over at about 4:30 and lo and behold- 2 chickens were with them. (Live ones- with names, Daisy and Henny Penny, and a cage to put them in)
We were all excited. They are a deep chocolatey brown color and they cock their heads in jerkish motions like all birds. They will start laying soon. We had a chicken before, named Rosa, who was actually the "outcast" of G&G's last flock. She was a pretty gal, different than the new ones. She had a few whitish spots on her lighter brown feathered body. Rosa laid an egg nearly every day.
Anyway, once the chickie was all situated, we ate Thanksgiving dinner (we were hungry) G&G had brought 2 pies, pecan and pumpkin, about 7 little mini-size spice cakes with icing drizzled on top, and a few squares of homemade soft deep brown rich gingerbread. Oh, and they brought sage spiced stuffing too.
Other things on the menu included,  Music Man's famous mashed potatoes, 1of4's  crispy buttery crescent rolls, Piano Woman's layered pea, celery, bacon salad and sweet potato casserole with cruchy pecanson top, Cranberry sauce, Mrs. G's waldorf salad with huge organic raisins, and of course- a 14 pound turkey.
Needless to say, we all stuffed ourselves silly on this delicious feast. Then, before desert, we went to take pictures in front of the Christmas tree. There were several really good ones (we are terribly fortunate to have Music Man's digital camera with room for like 1000 pictures or something like that- no kidding!) We will use one off them for our Christmas letter.
Lastly, we gathered round the table and played a game- scattergories.
(Music Man and Piano Woman are particularly fond of this game) G&G had never, or at least not for a while, played the game, so they had to be taught. Once they got the hang though, they were the best players! Mr. G helped me (quite a lot actually) Mrs. G and 1of4 ended up tying for 1st place.
It was a fun evening!

More Preparations

Today is thanksgiving. We have taken off school for the past two days, yahoo!
Music Guy has today off from work and so he is doing things like putting up lights and basting the turkey. The next baste is in... 3 minutes.
Piano Woman is has mopped and is going to vaccum. We also cleaned off the back porch and it looks pretty nice I would say.
Yesterday I raked the whole front yard and, well, what can I say, it looked very nice yesterday but those terrible awful no good very bad leaves just came right off the branches right into our yard again! Actually, it is much better than it was.

There were 3 whole big trash bags full of leaves when I finished. I put 2 on my garden. I then raked them evenly, watered them and today I spaded them into the ground.
We did a lot yesterday, but we probably will end up doing about the same amount of work. Most of the laundry got done yesterday.
Oh, but then, oh my... then our friends Mongogerrie and Rumpleteaser came and *clears throat* they, you know just came... and the house was not so clean anymore.
It wasn't so bad, usually it is worse, but 3of4 and 4of4 had a good time playing with them and messing up the house with them so I suppose it was worth it. (It was totally worth it- we had a good time and then we went to see Ice Age 2)
1of4 made rolls yesterday and I actually (on top of all the other crazy things) made two loaves of bread. But, I'm not going to do much of the cooking for our thanksgiving feast.
It shall be fun. We shall give thanks.
*I hope I can remember to slow down today and be thankful!*

Busy Preparations...

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving! AHH! Where did the year go? I remember making New Years resolutions really soon ago it seems. Soon it will be time to do that again!

The tree is up already, and I have basically thought about (at least) what I am giving everyone. I should sit down and make a serious list today- like who I am going to give gifts to. (I Don't want to leave anyone out) But I don't want to spend all my money on things people will just throw away.

I guess it is the old Chrismas/holidays/birthday problem, what to get someone that they will appreciate, remember, and not throw or give away? Time to do some sneaky work hee hee. The problem is, I don't even really know what I want!

Today we will be eventful. (Not that I didn't just spend 5 hours doing housework yesterday) but I really enjoy it actually. M will mop- she likes to do that a lot. What kind of crazy people are we? We love housework! Us kids will dust and do laundry and straighten the movie shelf which will get messed up again the next time someone wants to get a movie, any movie.

We can listen to music and have a good time. (I think we still are doing schoolwork, just not as much-since we are taking off tomorrow.)

Anyway, we shall not be idle.

Dave Ramsey

Today will be a busy day. (Tuesdays usually are)
When I finish eating lunch, at one o'clock, I go to Mrs Thomas's house. Then, I will go to the church to run the sound and DVD for the Dave Ramsey financial peace program at our church.
We only have two weeks left until graduation from Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University. I wasn't an official participant, I think you have to be however old and also you have to buy the package to participate, which is like 98 dollars.
It has been very very informative. Actually, Dave Ramsey is the reason I am working cleaning houses now at all. But the information is so good. Some of it I have mastered like saving vs. spending and never getting a credit card (I think he spends a lot of time on those things because the majority of people do have a problem with that) but some of it, like investments and taxes are a little hard to understand.
Mr. Ramsey makes it so simple and he is a really fun guy. When I am older I am definetly going to take the class again. I think my favoite lesson was about being a smart buyer and things to tell to salesman who bug you.
Basically, I think, the major point of the 13 lessons is that you rule your money, and it doesn't rule you. He even suggested that, when budgeting you should make a whole category of its own for "blow money" so that you can be in control of your money and it doesn't simply evporate without you knowing where it is going.
It is a very good class and I would definetly recommend it for anyone, young or old, in debt or not.

Cleaning Houses

On Tuesdays and on every other Friday I clean houses.
Every Thuesday I go to the Thomases house and work from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. They have such a big, pretty house. I really enjoy working there except the fact that she is a smoker. I really don't mind people that smoke, but she smokes inside her house. So, her house is full of cigarette smoke smell. I am so very glad that I am only there for 5 hours a week and not 10 or 20. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas are really nice, Christian, Consevative people. They pay very well also.

Every other Friday, I go to Mrs. Whitman's house. She is a widow who turned 86 or something on October 31. She has a very big family who come to see her only sometimes. Her daughter Sally lives the closest and does comes often. Mrs. Whitman is actually on Terminal, which I didn't know until just recently. (She has been on terminal for years, so I suppose she could go anytime) She has congestive heart failure, so it seems like it will be sooner than later. I hope she lives longer, but I want her to be happy and comfortable, which is not really happening here on earth.
I like working at her house a lot too, even though she is almost deaf. We watch Dr. Phil when I'm done working, which is from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
I like to work and I have built up some savings from it, I might start investing in some mutual funds.

About Me

Hi! This is my blog. It is more of a record than a diary. Keeping a journal wasn't really ever my thing. I am 15 years old and enjoy reading, cooking, gardening, and learning about fitness and nutrition. I'm currently studying Revelation in school and Genesis on my own. Also, I am learning about ocean currents and the structure of the earth. Neat stuff...
