Saturday, February 16, 2008 Vacuuming
The kids and I spent the day cleaning house. I didn't think it was going to more of a chore than vacuuming, dusting, laundry, and such. My vacuum had other ideas.
The silly thing wouldn't (forgive me, please) suck. I thought perhaps if I cleaned the head and roller that it would start working. I unplugged it and took the bottom off. Through my investigation of the roller, I found that there was a mega dust bunny hiding in the tube. So I took that apart and took out the offender. I put it all together and proceeded with my vacuuming.
I noticed that it still wasn't working as it should. I was totally perplexed at this point. This is a fairly new vacuum; it should be working. I took it apart again, found another dust bunny. This time I wasn't satisfied. I took the whole vacuum apart:
I even found its brains:
I have never done an investigative study on how vacuums work, but today I figured out how mine works in moving air through hoses and filters. The brains looked good, it was running. So it must be somewhere else.
Frustrated, I took a nap and dreamed of how my vacuum (forgive me, again) sucks. The thought came to me, that the intake hole from the filter must still be working. But as I was sleeping, I wasn't sure if this was me or my dream thinking.
I put the vacuum together and waited for my sweet man to come home.
Side praise: My husband is feeling better. He is able to go back to school, though on flex time, and work a bit. We are still getting used to this new lifestyle, but God is good and faithful! Thank you all for your prayers!!! When he came home, I was explaining my dilemma and apologizing as to why the house was in disarray . I took the filter (tall thing with the red hat and clear body in the picture) off, and he suggested that I turn on the vacuum to see if the air intake was working. (Funny, that was my dream or the Lord giving me a break.) It worked. That meant that the filter was the problem. Hmmmm.
I thought I would clean it, though I had cleaned it real good after I used it the last time. I took it apart and noticed that the inside filter wasn't locked into place. Would that make a difference? Ummmm... YES! I took the whole thing apart for nothing more than figuring out how it works: for nothing!
After locking everything into place, that sucker (forgive me) worked!
I love levity in life! My living room is back together, the vacuum works (and I know why), and I just need to finish the rest of what I was to do. Perhaps tomorrow...
Praise God for faithfulness in even cleaning!!

OldFashionGirl has tagged me with 10 things I love about spring and summer. If ever you have the honor of meeting this fine young lady, you will be impressed by her knowledge of history and the Lord. She loves Him dearly - even at her young age. I am so glad I can call her friend.
So here I go... 10 Things - Not in any particular order. This should be fairly simple.
1. Spring rains - Nothing smells purer to me, next to my newborns
2. I fell in love in the Spring with the delight of my life
3. Trees blooming, flowers opening, the fragrance of honeysuckle and rosemarie and pine
4. Warm days to walk in my yard (this year I have a bit of grass in patches)
5. Warm days to send my boys to find worms, grubs, snakes (yikes - I hope not)
6. My anniversary in early July!!! We married in just over four months of our first date
7. Warm breezes in early evening
8. Road trips & vacations
9. Fresh fruits & veggies - asparagus, yum!!!
10. Running through a sprinkler - I miss doing that!
Thank-you my young friend, for making me think of these wonderful things. The Lord has given us so many beautiful gifts - all year long. It is so good to remember even the simple things (running through sprinklers) and significant things (my anniversary). What a blessing it is to remember how much I enjoy these gifts of my Lord. In just a moment, my kids and I are going to do a photo shoot outside. Thank you, my Lord, for such a beautiful day. May your peace and blessing be with my friends who read my blog.
May you enjoy this spring day!!!

Monday, January 8, 2007 Bounce the Time Away
Thank you to all my family who so generously bought my kids toys for Christmas. My sons are enjoying their respective, age appropriate computers, games, books, and movies. They really are! They have colored and drawn endlessly on their easel. Curious George is a new past time with us. They love to have the old stories read to them, as were read to me. Ummm, Auntie SuSu, you didn’t buy them their own George stuffed animal for the one to throw out the window onto a busy street, the George of the other (hehe). Pilot has heeleyed all around and Jet has at least one Cars car near him at all times.
However, yesterday my boys (including Daddy) became enthralled in the simplest of toys. For hours, they played and were entertained by the noise, motion and sheer delight of eleven bouncy balls and an aluminum giant mixing bowl. The game began with the older one getting all of the balls into his hands, throwing them up and letting them fly ALL over the kitchen. After SEVERAL rounds of this, one ball chanced to fly into the said mixing bowl (previously used as the dogs water bowl, which was empty). For most of the morning and some of the evening, this naturally evolved game humored my family.
I must admit that I became fascinated at the wonder of my children as to what those persnickety bouncy balls would do next. Then watching as we varied the speed of the bowl, how the balls would swirl and bound out. At one point, I tried to keep bouncing one in the bowl without it bouncing out. Not as easy as one might suppose.
I will have to get pictures next time we spontaneausly break out bouncy balls and the dogs water dish. Very Fun!! And a great use for all those worthless bouncy balls that seem to proliferate in our house.

What Is Shepherd's Fold?
Our School's Motto is: Fidelis, Virtus, Continentia
Our School's Motto means: Faith, Virtue, Self-Control
We chose Shepherd's Fold as the name of our school to reflect Jesus, our Shepherd, leading and directing our learning and our lives. The Lord created us to be multi-dimensional. Each part of us needs His guidance. As He cares, directs, and protects for every aspect of our lives, then we, with His help, care for, direct, and protect our children.
The Good Shepherd Art Piece
African Gospel Art has several pieces. This one about the Good Shepherd really connected with me. The kind owner of the site is allowing me to use it in my blog. Please visit the art work; it really is delightful.
