Standing up for what's right, going against the flow, daring to dream big and follow up on those dreams; doing things out of the ordinary, going the extra mile, fighting against subtle evils like conformity to low-set standards we could all live without and grow old happier for it. These are some of the captured essences of the Rebelution, a personal goal to live life fully and without the restrictions of low standards, and a wide-swept uprising of people who dare to become the person God intends for them to be. Isn't it amazing, isn't it beautiful? Are you tired of being on the outside looking in? Then jump in headfirst and see where God leads you. Follow His shining light of example along a path of faith, joy, and hard work, which will reap unbelievable rewards.
"...the rebelutionary mind-set of 'do hard things'...Five Kinds of Hard things that can change your world: things that take you outside your comfort zone--taking risks to grow. Things that go beyond what's expected or required--pursuing excellence. Things that are too big to accomplish alone--dreaming and daring big. Things that don't earn an immediate payoff--being faithful and choosing integrity. Things that go against the cultural norm--taking a stand for what's right."
Read the stories in this last chapter about people just like you who decided that there was more to life and more they could be doing. What did they all have in common? "They identified what they needed to get honest about and to whom. They decided what negative actions or patterns needed to end. They recognized which people could best help them get from point A to point B and made a plan to get connected. They figured out one or two key action steps that, once taken, would make it a lot tougher for them to chicken out and turn back--and they decided when and how they would take the steps. They acknowledged that they couldn't succeed without God's help, so they made a practical plan to stay close to Him. They expected--and were already excited about--success!"
"...God willing, millions will hear and be inspired by the story that is waiting to be told. And that story is yours. What is your five-step rebelutionary action plan to get started? Take a few minutes and write it down. Your words will be the record of your new beginning. Then join us and countless other young people on this adventure. Yes, it will be hard. But we're rebelutionaries. We do hard things."
Questions for Discussion:
What do the authors liken this book to? In other words, what do they hope readers will come away with?
Did they succeed? What was it like, reading it?
Did this reading make an impact on you?
Take a few moments as the authors suggest, and write down five steps you could take towards being a Rebelutionary. Already doing something hard? Tell us about it!
I want to take a moment here and thank everyone who participated in this book discussion and put up with my frequent rescheduling regarding the postings! It was a lot of fun and I hope you come away with a little more than you arrived with. The links to each chapter discussion are on my sidebar if you would like to go back and read them, or if you didn't hear about this before it had already been posted.
May God bless you, and may His light pierce your darkness!

Is this book "Do Hard Things" by those twins....Brett and Alex Harris, I think? Hahaha! I HAVE MET THEM! Yup! About two years ago (ya know, they live here in Oregon), we went to this homeschooling journalism writing seminar, and they were there. Of course, they were just sorta in the background, and no one knew they were gonna be AUTHORS! I didn't even know who they were!!!!
Just thought I'd mention it! =) Sorry if I'm wrong!
