Apr. 21, 2009 - ~Multi purpose recipes

We prepared several loaves of bread this past weekend. I like to bake as soon as I grind the grain so that the grains retain all of the nutrients. This past weekend we decided to try something different. We immediately prepared 2 loaves of bread to go along with the next 2 dinners. Then I froze 2 loaves (mixed and put in the freezer before the rising stage). Then last night, before bed, I left one loaf to rise for this mornings breakfast. They're 100% whole wheat and I did not mix up a glaze for the top, keeping it somewhat healthy
but I might just try making a batch of half-N-half (whole wheat and white) and making a yummy glaze on top too.
So I'm wondering what other recipes I could make from my bread recipe???

It would be so nice to be able to prepare several things before hand and keep them in the freezer ready to go when we need them. I don't think I've tried making pizzas from the same recipe I use for the bread, but that's another idea we could try now that I'm thinking about it.
The Cinnamon rolls will have to be one of those 'keeper' recipes. I LOVE being able to have most of the work done when I wake up for the morning breakfast. I don't know about others but I'm not quick on my feet first thing in the morning and do not want to have to follow a recipe at 7:00 a.m.. This was simple.... I just pushed down the dough until it filled up my 9X13 pan and then lathered on the butter, cinnamon and sugar. I baked the rolls for 10-12 minutes on 400 and this one bread recipe made 25 rolls.
BTW, A friend of mine heard this from a friend of hers and I tried this as well. Boy does word travel! You can buy Pizza dough by the case from Sams Club. They're individually frozen and all the work has been done for you. We have made pizzas several times and I'm pretty sure that cinnamon rolls from the same dough would be unbelievable! If I'm remembering correctly, price wise, it broke down to less than a dollar each. So for about 1.50 you could have some very yummy cinnamon rolls without a lot of fuss!

Eunice, back when we made bread once a week, we would make 2 loaves of raisin bread, some regular loaves, then rest rest in pizza dough, or rolls, or cinnamon rolls all from the same whole wheat dough.
Now we usually just make raisin bread and plain bread . We use a different recipe for pizza and cinnamon rolls. We add a little white flour to the pizza and cinnamon rolls. We use Bread Becker's pizza recipe and Miserly Mom's cinnamon rolls with cream cheese icing-yum!
