Our school day is about to begin.  We have a three day school week ahead of us with some gardening thrown in for good measure.  Lord willing we'll get some lettuce and spinach planted today or tomorrow.....

One of our favorite things around here are smoothies.  We make all sorts of smoothies and usually make our own yogurt for the smoothies as well.  This morning we made a new to us smoothie and Jo is perfecting the second batch as I type.  YUM. YUM.

This is what's needed for one blender batch of smoothies:

*1 banana
*1 cup yogurt
*1 cup milk (or half milk half wtr)
*1 heaping teaspoon peanut butter
*2 heaping teaspoons cocoa powder
*1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
*LOTS of ice
*2+ TB honey

(Modify to your taste.  Add more chocolate, less peanut butter.....whatever you like.)

The children said we should name this Reeses smoothie.  MMMM....MMM....good!

Our favorite smoothies, those we make consistently - on a weekly basis, are blueberry yogurt smoothies and carnation instant breakfast smoothies w/yogurt.  We also make fruit smoothies (no yogurt), usually on the week-ends when Dad's home, but not on a weekly basis.  Smoothies are great for breakfast or lunch and they are SO healthy.

I have a friend that makes spinach and strawberry smoothies regularly and her children love them.  The smoothies have a green color, but they only taste the strawberry's.  I can only imagine the nutritional content these children are receiving from all the spinach and strawberry's!  Smoothies are a yummy and FUN way to impart extra nutrition to our families.

Have a blessed day!

Thanks for sharing this. We are big chocolate/PB lovers here. I don't know why I've never tried putting PB in a smoothie. We also do smoothies often for breakfast, lunch or whenever. I have one daughter who drinks them up if I call them milkshakes, but not if they are called smoothies. She knows we make them the same (no ice cream) but says they taste different anyway ;)
