Oct. 13, 2009 - ~Easy breezy nutrition
Last week we had smoothies every morning (except one) for our breakfast. It's one of the easiest, and cheapest ways, I've found to get extra nutrients in to these little sweetums running around here. They *LOVE* smoothies! We made blueberry smoothies, chocolate smoothies, chocolate chip smoothies, and berry spinach smoothies.
Here's a partially eaten berry spinach smoothie

And some blurry evidence of it's goodness:

Most of our smoothies have yogurt, but this one does not. We just added a bunch of fresh spinach leaves in to the blender - just below the halfway mrk. Then added the mixed frozen fruit (peaches, pineapple, etc), some frozen strawberries, frozen blueberries, a banana and some indian gooseberry powder, a goodly amount of honey, a cup of o.j. and enough water so that it will mix (1-2 cups?).
This was yummy and exploded with berry flavor!

How long do the smoothies last your children without them being hungry again? Mine would be starving an hour later...

They're fine until lunch, but they almost always have seconds so their bellies are very full :O)
