I've been wanting to blog again for awhile. 

I've been playing a game on the computer. 

It's going to be Christmas in 18 days and I can't wait.  Tomorrow I get to be in the Christmas parade.

I didn't have to do math today because I'm still ahead - but I will have to do it tomorrow.  After lunch we are going to do our science.  This morning I listened to the Bible, listened to "Island of the Blue Dolphins" and did reading.  I got 10 new flashcard words to work on and a new story to read.  When I can get my 10 flashcard words perfect, my mom will take me to a toy store to look at toys!

Here is what I remembered from "Island of the Blue Dolphins":

The Indian girl went to a different cave for 5 nights and 4 days.  The wild dogs came and she killed 3 of them with her arrows.  She went out to the canoe to sail to the other Island – where the leader went before.  But the canoe was leaking.  One big leak and one little leak.  Then she saw dolphins.  It made her happy. 

I DID IT! I DID IT!  Mom told me when I could read my ten word flashcards without hesitation and without mistake - then she would take me for ice cream.  Well, I DID IT!! Baskin & Robbins - here I come!!

Island of the Blue Dolphins:

The girl was looking out to the Sea; she was waiting for the ship.  She dug up the chest and wore the jewelry that was in it.  Then she threw it in the sea because she got mad about it.  She made weapons – bow and arrows, spears, a little knife.  The wild dogs were watching her and she was afraid they would attack her so she kept the weapons with her wherever she goes.

I did math.  I listened to the Bible and history "Island of the Blue Dolphins".  I worked on my flashcards and wrote some sentences Mom read to me.

Here is what I said about "Island of the Blue Dolphins":

They stayed in a cave. In the morning, they went back to the camp.  Wild dogs had eaten all the food that was left in the camp.  The little brother wanted to go get the canoe from where it was hidden.  She told him he was too little.  She woke up and the little brother was gone.  After waiting most of the day, she went to look for him.  She found him.  The wild dogs were circling his body.  He was dead.  His spear was in the body of one of the dogs he killed.  She wanted revenge.  She had a plan to kill all the dogs.

I'm having a bad day. Today was hard. 

Science - heard about space and stars, NASA

Math - counted money and made change

Bible - listened

Reading - Read my story.  I don't want to talk about the reading

History - listened to the story:

The Indians were packing their belonging to go on the boat.  They had to be quick because of the wind – the ship needed to go and if they did not hurry – they would miss it.  After she got on the boat, she could not find her brother.  He was still on the shore.  The captain said we’ll have to come back for him.  She jumped off the boat.  She had to drop her things so she could swim.  She joined her brother on the shore.

Mom here - poor J2 is on the couch.  Seems to have some sort of stomach flu.  :(  Hoping that after lunch he'll be up for a bit of schoolwork.  LOL 

I did want to share about last Thursday and Friday.  Fridays are our flex days - Chapel in Dixon at Dad's school, gymnastics in Davis and, hopefully, some visits with friends.  Last Friday I went to meet my bosses and J2 spent the time with our friends.  They had a great time! 

Thursday was school as usual, but I was too busy with work to update his blog.  So, we missed out on his rendition of school - but he did a great job narrating the book "Island of the Blue Dolphins" that we are listening to for History:

The Indians chose a new chief.  People were watching for the chief to come back to the Island.  One of the men, watching on the cliffs, spotted a ship.  He ran to the village and woke everyone up.  Everyone was getting ready to go.  There wasn’t a red sail on the ship.  It was a white sail.  The people were good and they were going to take them to a different island.  But no one knew where they were going.

We got a call from a friend of ours today who told us there are MORE Wildcams on the National Geographic Magazine website than just the Africa one!!  Yeah!!

Here is what I said about "Island of the Blue Dolphins" today:

The men were heading to their ships with the otter pelts but they had not paid the Indians.  They were going to give the Indians a necklace but the chief said leave the other skins until you bring the rest of our payment.  The chief fell on the ground.  There was blood on his face.  The other Indian warriors came and fought.  The Russians dropped the skins in the boats and took out their knives.  Many Indians fought and some of them died.  Some of them fell on the ground and some of them got back up.  The chief died.  The Russians went away.

...I took a math test.  I read my readers.  Mom and I played "Sorry" and I won!  We did our first Spanish lesson - rock is "roca", soup is "sopa", and that's all I remember.

I listened to the next section of "Island of the Blue Dolphins" and this is what I said about it:

8.15.07  First Narration “Island of the Blue Dolphins”

 Russian people came to the Island.  The Indian leader said the parts have to be equal.  The girl dropped a rock and she ran away.

The Indians found fish.  They dried the fish.  They ate 7 of them.  The Russians wanted two of them because they were tired of the other fish. 

Today Mom and I watched "Wildcam Africa".  We saw a Nile Crocodile, Impala, Warthogs and a monitor lizard.  It was only 7:45am PST but it was 4:45pm in Botswana, Africa.  We are going to go back at 1pm PST to see what it looks like at night!  They have cards you can learn more about the animals.  I really want to see more Nile Crocodiles!
