National Geographic ~ An Excellent School Tool
We subscribe to the National Geographic magazine. Growing up, my father always subscribed so when I married and we began our family, we began our subscription as well; we now have a 14 year collection of this wonderful resource at our fingertips. My Dad, by the way, is about the only person I've ever known who literally reads the National Geographic magazine cover to cover every month!
This month's issue arrived in our mail yesterday. It is an excellent issue that is packed full of amazing photography, history and science. The boys and I have already persused through the issue quickly and we plan to dissect an article each day during December.
This magazine along with their television channel and the National Geographic's web site is packed full of additional online resources. It is an excellent tool for your homeschool (especially middle and high school grades) and can easily be used in lieu of text books or as supplements. The ongoing information each month is endless. This magazine can also be used as a spring board for unit studies as well.
And for those critics of unschooling - this would be easily considered "an unschooler's choice" for homeschooling resources by many who unschool.
Have a great weekend!
