My dd the future nurse!

Happy Show an' Tell Fridays with Canadagirl! Each week we share something fun and interesting. If you'd like to participate and meet new friends, stop by  Canadagirls Show n' Tell blog and join in on the excitement!

Ok, this will be either really gross to you OR really cool! My beloved shot 2 deer on opener and was showing the kids the heart of one of the deer.

Like the true homeschooled child she is Posseum said, "Oh, Papa! I know all the parts can I show you? I learned it last year in science." He obliged and she began showing him and the boychexs all the different parts and what did what. It was such a joy to see! I mentioned to her that if she wanted to be a nurse like she has talked about lately that she would be disecting many things. Her reply, "Cool"! Here are the photos...if you are faint of heart (pun intended ) don't look at the photos!

I thought the same thing - she's a brave girl! No way I could have done that.

I guess I am a bit tougher now that I have been living out in the country for almost 10 years. I wouldn't be as grossed out as I would have been when I was a city gal. [ 0; We get a cow every year and yes that means cutting a freezing organs. I know what a cow heart, liver, tongue looks like. Plus chicken parts too. We have butchered chickens before and will probably will next year. I guess that is good b/c we will be doing biology in the future. [ 0;

Blessings and ((hugs)) my SSiC

I love how Science just shows up in a Homeschool home. We did the deer eye balls and its brain one year. Very cool S&T

Love it, Posseum is a natural. Takes a lot of hard work, but worth it. The rewards are ever so great helping other's out. My mom was a LPN never went to a RN though.

Debbie

Nov. 9, 2007 - Been there...done that!

It felt like old-home week on your S&T. We've done the beef heart, the pig eye, and even the trachea of a cow (gotta know a butcher for that one!), as well as the usual frogs, crayfish, earthworms, and...clam. Yuck.

Wouldn't want to repeat those days. I used to like it, but you can only take so much....

That's so great that she remembers all that she had studies and was so enthused about it. We have a little pig in the fridge waiting to be dissected. My daughter can't wait.

It does sound like your daughter is a born nurse! Frankly, I get quesy just cleaning up after a sick kid - or dog. I would not say "cool" to such things. That just proves to me that I would never make it as a nurse - it's a God-given gift.:)

I just had to come and find last weeks S&T when you mentioned it was about dissecting hearts! We always do this in the fall when we butcher our cows. What awesome learning experience for your future nurse :)
Blessings to you and your family,
