It's Shown' Tell time! If you'd like to join in click Here and our lovely host aka The knitting queen aka Mary/canadagirl will show you the way!
I struggle in late autumn & wintertime with light deprivation that can for me lead to depression. I wanted to "show & tell" some of the solutions that help me.
The coolest thing we've found is the Soliel Sun alarm clock. You set the alarm and 30 minutes before you want to get up the alarm starts to light up gradually. At your appointed time the clock light is fully on. I've found that this gently wakes me up & my hubby too. Now I have to warn you that this clock isn't cheap but for me it was worth the price.
The next you probably know about: Vitamin D and calcium suppliment (helps body absorb vit.D.
Along with this season comes anxiety for me. The holidays along with trying to keep up when I don't feel like it and to deal with the usual stress can be very hard for me. My solutions for this include:
having coffee with friends
crocheting, right now my challenge is following a pattern mittens
scrapbooking with my Girlygirls (four of us who regularly get togeher)
take a mini vacation with my Beloved or with kids
blogging with you my blogging friends
crafts
good book
These things relax me and i love them. The key seems to be for me is to be able to set aside the stress/anxiety and take time for me or I'm useless to my family. My Beloved is so supportive in this, I am truly blessed.
Thank you for blessing me blogging friends, you help more than you know.
Oh, how I would love to have an alarm like that!!! And your suggestions of stress relief are very good as well. I would like to add, getting a bird feeder to watch. It really makes my heart smile to see them eat!

I'm with you Jenny! Oh, how I strongly dislike (hate) the gray skys of our MN winters. And today when I was out and about, it seems like that is all everyone is talking about - we are all fed up with this COLD winter and have cabin feaver. That clock is neat, but being our clock is on my husband's side of the bed, and I can't see it (well, I have to sit up in bed to do so), it probably wouldn't help me any. lol Maybe the Dr. could write a perscription for me to move to Florida - I wish. I use to go to tanning salons and that helped me a lot. I also use to have a clock radio that I could play tapes and would play either the ocean or birds singing. Even putting on some body lotion that smells like coconut or lilac helps me feel summery. And now this year I am also checking on webcams in my favorite FL spots - which kinda helps - kinda depresses me. lol Good Post!!!
Great ideas to beat the winter lows! The clock is a new one I haven't seen. I joke that the reason Starbucks is such a big deal and started in Seattle is because of all the clouds and rain here. We really need an 'upper'. I think I like cocoa/chocolate for that reason.
My dad used to suffer from SAD. I heard someone speak on it in Seattle as they were researching the disordered and trying to find SAD volunteers. He said when the clocks fall back an hour they tend to get volunteers calling in like crazy.
We've had two glorious weeks of crystal clear skies and sun but wow, is it chilly. It was sure nice to get out in the sun though.
Thank you for your comment on the fleece blanket. It's nice to know your daughter cherishes her quilt from her hospital stay. Our son was in the hospital for a life saving emergency. That's a real praise the Lord miracle that he lived!!! The hospital had a little stuffed monkey on the shelf by his bed in post surgical ICU so I gave it to him.
He was 13 and hugged that little monkey and has kept it. He had two bigger stuffed monkeys at home. I asked the nurse about it and he said there was a hospital angel that delivered them. Sweet and very touching!
You have a cute little dog in your arms in the avatar photo.
NEAT - O I am so glad you have all these blessings for the winter time. I have never seen a alarm clock like that before. Wow. I do hope you show off your needle work soon. [0= I am battling some germs still . I am trying not to come down with bronchitis. Please pray for me.
Sending you extra ((BIG)) hug my SSiC
