In our read-aloud time, we’ve been reading the historical fiction “Jimmy Spoon” series (actually there are only two books). The boys are really enjoying these, as they are about a Mormon boy in the 1860’s who winds up living with Shoshoni Indians and being adopted into their tribe.
In today’s reading, the subject of a trousseau was brought up. The boys, of course, were curious and this started us down a rabbit trail all about weddings and honeymoons. After bravely explaining to them that “…a honeymoon is a period of time, after a wedding, when a man and wife get to know each other better (ahem)...” they took turns volunteering where they hope to someday take their lucky brides.
My youngest son: “We’re going to Texas!” (He is all things ‘cowboy’.)
My oldest son: “We’re going to go to New York and stay in the nicest hotel and have dinner every night, for two weeks, in the fanciest restaurants.” (Who knew?)
And, my daughter: “I’m gonna go to Wally-World!” (This is our not-so-affectionate nickname for Wal-Mart.) What have I done?!
