When my now 11yo was little he was always wanting to teach me! So what we did was if he "let" me be the teacher M-Thurs. he could be the teacher in Friday. He loved it! He came up with amazing things to do. He would make up board games, read me books, plan field trip.
Once we had just gotten home from a trip to Texas. He came up with the idea of setting up a Museum and inviting other homeschool families to come see it. We worked on it for several Fridays. He made an exhibit on each of the places we had visited. (Zoo, Aquarium, Book Depostitory were Kennedy was killed, Art Museum, etc.) We put out the word to our homeschooling group and had 7 families show up. He had everything set up so the kids could wander around the "museum" reading and learning. He even stood up and did a presentation on our trip while the kids had a snack. We made a pizza sized chocolate chip cookie for snack (Because everything is BIG in Texas! LOL) He had a blast and so did the other kids! It was a very successful learning experience.
Letting him be the teacher was very fun. It boosted his confidence and made him lot more cooperative the rest of the week. It also taught me that I don't always have to be teaching for my kids to learn. If I instill a love of learning in them they will use that love to have a lifetime of learning.
