17th Anniversary
Posted in Lessons I Have Learned
Today my husband and I are celebrating our 17th Anniversary!!!
This poem was written by my
mother-in-law and given to us as a wedding gift.
"Your Marriage Journey"
Love is the greatest gift to each other
Not fleeting, superficial gestures
for the world to see.
But love that spells
Commitment and friendship
to accompany the two of you
to exhilarating mountaintops
and through shadowy valleys.
Always respect and never take for
granted each other.
Fix your eyes on the Lord Jesus
ans bask in His unending love.
With all our love,
Mom & Dad
After
17 years of marriage I can tell you this poem means more to us today
than it did the day we were married! She obviously knew what she
was talking about!!! Marriage is most certainly a journey.
Some days are easy and some days are hard. I am so grateful that
I have such a wonderful husband to share the journey with. I
remember hearing years ago that a successful marriage requires falling
in love many times, but always with the same person. That has
been so true for me. There are so many opportunities in marriage
to either grow together, or to grow apart. My husband and I have
been through a lot together in the last 17 years. We have made 2
major moves, transitioned from a two income couple to a one income
family, experienced years of infertility, lost our 1st child, had 3
children (finally), buried 3 of our 4 parents. This is not to
mention the day to day stuff like bills, careers, travel,
childraising...Through it all we have thankfully grown closer. I
cannot imagine my life without him! And for that I am truly
thankful!
This was taken 2 years ago on our 15th Anniversary.
We renewed our wedding vows at a wedding chapel in Las Vegas.
"Two are better than one..."
Ecclesiastes 4:9

I'm Jenni. I just read your post from blubber bloggers. You're certainly entitled to splurge! Congratulations on your anniversary too. (Our 15th was yesterday.)
I'm slowly working my way through the blubberbloggers friends list (checking out the ones who post first) and when I got to yours and read your fertility story I was blown away. I'm working on mine on my blog--some similarities, but everyone's story is written especially for them by the Master Creator!
Just wanted to say Hi and looking forward to getting to know you.
