Having A Ball!
Posted in My Homeschool FAQs
My son and I are
going to start learning the State Capitals this week. I picked up
this beach ball for .99 cents at the .99 Cent Store. Then I
printed out a list of all
50 States with their Capitals.
I used a Sharpie Marker to write all 50 State and their Capitals on the
ball, spreading them out evenly. To play we will start by tossing
the ball back and forth and saying whatever State and Capital lands
under our left hand. Once we feel we are getting to know them we
will start quizzing each other by tossing it back and forth and saying
only the State our left hand lands on. Then the other person will
have to say the Capital.
Tomorrow I am going back to
the .99 Cent Store to get more beach balls....I think I will make a
ball to help memorize Bible Verses and one to do simple addition with
my daughter.
Sounds like a ball to me!

What a great idea. We have the "geography songs" tape and we have the whole U.S memorized up one coast and down the other and everything in between! But we need to work on the capitals. I love your idea :)

I love this idea! We worked on states/capitals last year, but I know this would have been a more enjoyable way to learn them for PK1!
Thanks for sharing~

What a great idea (and far cheaper than the electronic globe that my son got from grandparents for a birthday).
I'm sure you and your kids will have a blast with it! :)
