I have been attending a Bible study based on a book called The Power of A Positive Mom. I just finished the chapter called Making Marvelous Memories. One of the thing in the book is ideas for celebrating the last day of school. Here are some of the ideas:- Throw A Party. Decorate the house, eat junk food, celebrate your children's achievements for the year.
- Make a summer planning poster. Write across the top "Summer 2006" then make a list of fun activities you want to do as a family. (Swimming, hiking, museums, traveling, visitors coming, etc...)
- Make a list of summer rules. How late can everyone sleep, how much TV/computer time is allowed, etc.
- Make a "Boredom Buster" can. Cover a coffee can with color paper and decorate with stickers. Write on slips of paper fun things to do that can be drawn out when kids get bored. Read a book, make a craft, put on a play, walk the dog, etc.
- Plan some field trips and get them on the calendar. This way the summer won't slip away without getting those great trips in.
- Give each child a couple of fun workbooks or drawing books to start their summer off right.
- Give each child a new sketch pad and some craft materials to use up over the summer.
Spend some time to show you care;
Toys and trinkets can't replace those
Precious moments that you share.
