Fashionable Phonics
Posted in My Homeschool FAQs
Who says fashion and phonics don't go together!
I made this t-shirt for my daughter by sewing 2 strips of the fuzzy
side of velcro on a thrift store t-shirt. Then we took the loop
side of the velcro and cut it into squares. I used a Sharpie
marker to write letters on the smooth side of the velcro
I used the rest of the fuzzy side of the velcro to store the extra
letters. Now she can sound out words and make messages on the
front of her shirt. She LOVES it and it was very cheap.
(.79 cents for the shirt and $2.99 for the velcro.) Make sure to
make extra of the vowels and R,S,T,L,N since they are the most used
letters of the alphabet.
Remove the velcro letters before washing the shirts. Sharpie markers are not washing machine proof!

Very Creative, like always! I love it, an interactive t-shirt. Glad to hear you're going to be a contributing author for our e-book. :) That's great.

What a cute idea! I'm thinking of all kinds of messages I can put on MY OWN shirt: "Will Teach For Starbucks" comes to mind...

Good grief, woman!! You never cease to amaze me!!
My little guys will love that! Actually, I think my 9 year old will, too.
I bought my two older boys license plate frames that you can customize and change with letters. Never would have thought of this, though.
I wanna do school at your house!
Oh, and I'm very excited that we'll be including all your great ideas in our book as well. Now, to get it written!! lol
