My daughter and I have been experimenting with making paper bag albums. I first heard of these few weeks ago when I went to a Scrapbooking night. One of the ladies was talking about making them and they sounded interesting. I was wondering if they were something we could use in our lapbooking so I Googled it. Here is a site I found with step-by-step instructions.
These were very fun to make! I think maybe they are a little thick to add to a lapbook. I do however think they would be a fun alternative to a lapbook. Click here and scroll to the bottom to see an adorable little book to teach Colors. The possibilites are endless with these...you could make one for:
1. Letters of the alphabet - Make the 1st page the letter then cut pictures from magazines to illustrate each letter.
2. Phonics sounds - Same as above except focus on phonics sounds and blends.
3. Math review - Write math problems on the pages and then have the answers on the pull-out parts. I am thinking about doing one of these for my daughter. I would probably cut the bags in half and use only the open ends. That way every page would have a pull-out for the answer.
4. Bible verses - Have kids write our Bible verses each week and add to their book as they learn them. Then they could go back and use it when they review. You could use the pull at part to let them add stickers as they go back and review.
5. Lapbooking - Take a topic you want to do a mini study on but not devote a lot of time to and make one of these little gems instead of a full sized lapbook.
.....and on and on and on.....

This is the inside of my book.
These were made completely with scraps. We sewed ours because I didn't have enough ribbon to hold them together properly and I didn't want to buy anything. My daughter made hers a journal of all our birthdays this year. Mine will be filled with pictures from our Summer. I plan on printing the pictures in wallet size. I also thought I would do my journaling on the pullout parts. There are 4 pieces that pull out. On one I will talk about the Summer in general and then on the other three I will write about the things we did in June, July and Aug. Fun, fun, fun!
Hi, this is great! I've done lapbooking with my son but this looks like a lot of fun to. We are definately going to have to try it out. I liked the math idea so I think we'll start with that : )
I'm glad you like the globe idea to. I just posted a fun science experiment on learning about how much air you can hold in your lungs. We had a lot of fun doing it and it is nice and simple.
Blessings,
