My family had an amazing honor today to go to a Memorial that was set up for the victims of 9-11.  I had never really grasped just how many souls were lost until we came around the corner and saw this. There is one flag for each person lost on 9-11 and you can only see bout half of the field in this picture...

I was immediatley in tears!

My son and I were both able to find the flags that represented the people we were privlegde to blog about in the 2996 project.

This flag has the names of all 2996 victims on it. They are written on the red stripes.  It was very powerful to see.


The flags that represented children had stuffed animals with them.  This was one of the few mentions I have heard of children being killed on 9-11.  The youngest victim I found was 3 years old and was on one of the planes that were highjacked.


This was one of the most heart wrenching experiences of my life.  I cried my eyes out!  But, it is so important to me that my family not take our freedom for granted.  I don't want to ever forget that the terrorists want to take our lifesytle away and that for 2996 people they did take it away.

We also want to remember that as of right now approx 3000 of our Military have also died while fighting terroism.  Each of these flags really represented 2 people!  The loss is mind boggling!

God bless America and we will never forget!!!
