Our 1st Week Of The Schoolyear
Posted in My Homeschool FAQs
Well, we have survived the 1st week of the schoolyear. There were a few moments that were NOT pretty, but we got through it. The main problem with this week was we had WAY too much planned. We started 3 new classes, had 3 field trips and did our first full week of curriculum for the year. We were pretty much at a dead run all week...I don't like that! The 2 year old was much more interested in what I was doing with his 5 year old sister this year than he was last year. Instead of playing and doing his own thing like I expected, he wanted to be in the middle of EVERYTHING! We had several tear filled moments when he grabbed his sisters school work and took off running with it! LOL It was certainly one of those weeks I was glad no one was watching us! By the end of the week I realized that the 2 year old needed his own math manipulatives and needed to be included in every game we played, even if he didn't understand what we were doing. This made everything take twice as long, but kept the crying to a minimum, so I called it a success! Every year I think that next year we will have a smoother 1st week of school. Every year there is something unexpected that makes it the hardest week of the year! But, for this year it is over, we made it through and for that I am greatful!
Happy new schoolyear to you!!!!

LOL I'm glad that you guys survived. I'm cracking up at your little "schoolwork thief". Hopefully, he'll still be that interested in it when he has to do it for real. LOL

ROFL!! Your little one sound ALOT like mine. We started when she was 2 and and wanting to be involved in EVERYTHING we were doing! She never ran off with the work, but was known to color on a couple of lessons and in a couple of books!
I want to say, it gets better, but at 3 I'm finding myself putting alot more effort into finding activities for her to do that correlate with what the 6 year old is doing! Alot more work for me, alot more time added to the school work, but alot less tears and a very "smart" feeling 3 year old!
I have enjoyed reading your blog and am adding you to my Friends. I haven't been blogging long, but plan to be adding more to my page. Hopefully, you will visit my blog more often and add me to your friends list.
God bless,
Alexas
