Free Museum Day was awesome! We hit the Areospace Museum and The Natural History Musem. Both were great!
We also went to the Birch Aquarium. This was a BIG hit with the kids because they have some wonderful touch pools that have all kinds of sea life in them. The kids could have stayed forever!
But, of course the BIGGEST hit of the trip was the beach! We spent 2 days at the beach. The 1st day we found this great little beach that had loads of shells washed up on shore. We could have picked up a bushel basket full if we could have carried that many! Thankfully we had taken a container we intended to use for building sand castles! We quickly filled it up as well as Dad's empty Starbucks cup!
The second day we hiked down to a tide pool at Cabrillo National Park. It was so cool to see all the same shells we had collected the day before with the sea creatures living inside them! The kids want to make a lapbook on shells now, so look for that in upcoming weeks on my blog.
We also got to see the Lighthouse at Cabrillo. I really enjoyed that. I lived in California for almost 20 years and somehow never knew there were lighthouses there. I always thought of them as an East Coast thing. The Lighthhouse we saw was from the 1800's and is now a museum. I cannot imagine how much fun the kids that grew up there must have had living on the beach in San Diego before it was populated!
We also got to see a lot of ships. It just happened that it was Fleet Week in San Diego so there were a lot of ships docked. It was really amazing to see them all! We really wanted to go on board the USS Midway, but unfortunatly we ran out of time. We did get to see it from the outside though and it was AMAZING!
So, we had a great trip! Our week went too fast!
Tomorrow I will try to post more pictures. My laptop died AGAIN! This time it looks terminal! So I am struggling through with my hubbies computer. Hopefully tomorrow I will figure out how to resize pictures.
