Here is what we made Dad for his birthday....
I got this idea from
http://www.familyfun.com We jazzed it up a little bit by adding 2 pictures and painting and decorating a box to store the puzzle in.
Here is the box the kids painted. Then I glued a picture of them on top and edged it with ribbon. (It looks a little weird from this angle, but I was trying to get the side and top of the box in one shot.)

Here is the inside. We painted it black and put black felt in the bottom. On the top part we put Matthew 6:21 "For where your heart is, your treasure will be also." The puzzle is 6 one and a half inch wooden blocks. The kids painted them the same grey and blue as the box. The I cut up the pictures and attached them.

Here is the box with the 2nd picture we made into a puzzle. It's of Dad reading to the kids. We also glued black felt on the bottom.

I think we may have to make some more of these for Christmas gifts.
Here is the link that tellls how to make the puzzles.
We also made this:

The poem is as follows:
Walking With Dad"Walk a little slower Dad" said a child so small,"I'm following in your footsteps and I don't want to fall.Sometimes your steps are very big,Sometimes they're hard to see;So walk a little slower, Dad,For you are leading me.Someday I will be all grown up,And you're what I want to be;When I have a little childWho wants to follow me.Thanks Dad for taking step that are right,And showing me what is true,Your walk is so important DadFor I am following you!**********Happy Birthday Dad!Nov. 7th, 2006
I
found a poem that was similar to this online and was signed anonymous.
I rewrote it to fit our Dad a little better. I hope he liked it as
much as I do!
Here is Dad and the kids with the cake we made for him.

We tried to make him this really cool cake we saw on the family fun website, but...Let's just say I baked 4 cakes and only this one layer came out edible!!! I have told you before I am NOT a cook! LOL Anyway,
here is the link to the cake we wanted to make! We ended up just spelling out dad with Smarties! At this point I really didn't care anymore, I just wanted to be DONE with cake!

It looks like you've got ongoing art class going on at your house...Can I send my kids over? Your kids are very fortunate to have such a talented mom!
