Twas the night after Christmas and all through the house not a thing was in order, not even my Spouse. The stockings were slung by the chimney, who cares? The jolly guy Santa is gone for the year!
The leftovers are keeping the fridge door ajar and the trash in the driveway spills out to the car.
The tree is still lit up, but looks tired and worn, kind of like Mom who feels battered and torn.....
The children play happily with there slew of new gifts and we even found one to open that we missed!
The wrapping paper is piled up all around the doors, and boxes and batteries are slewn on the floor....
Then what to our wondering eyes did appear but the garbage truck with 3 shining workmen in beards!
Like courses we flew to pick up all the trash, tear down the garland and wipe down the sash!
The moon on the on the trash cans glowed silent and silver and Mom felt at peace as she watch the garbage disappear!
For Christmas is now over for a whole 'nother year and although we do love it and hold the traditions dear....
It is nice to get back to our normal life.
Happy New Year to all and to all a goodnight!
