The benches are completed! Hooray! They are sooooo beautiful!
One thing I must say for my husband is that when it comes to projects he is the dream homeschooling Dad. These benches were really a joint effort of the whole family. (Well, except me! Most of the work was done on New Year's Eve Day while I was cooking and getting ready for the evening festivities.) My husband and our 12 year old son did all the cutting of the wood together. Our 5 year old daughter helped with lots and lots and lots of sanding. (That girl LOVES power tools!) Even our 3 year old got into the action with staining! (My husband says I may be the only Mom on earth who would let her 3 year old stain, not to mention doing it on the dining room table! LOL) Actually, all 3 kids stained every bit of the wood for this project. They did an excellent job!
This was New Year's Eve. We put them to work at 11 p.m. while we were waiting to ring in the New Year! LOL
Here are the kids pleased with all their work. Our 3 year old calls the benches his "tree house". He kept telling everyone "Dad and I are building a treehouse!" We can only guess that he thinks that bottom shelf is his treehouse! LOL
Here is the little monkey in his treehouse!
And the whole gang striking a pose!
They did such a good job with this, I wonder what I could come up with for them to build next????
Jan. 3, 2007 - Hi
Well you may not be the Only mom that will let your 3 year old stain, but how smart are you to let him do it shirt-less. Nothing a bath won't resolve (or dissolve).
Cute pictures. Because of Jesus, Bobbie

Jan. 3, 2007 - the project looks great!
Now, as a good homeschooling Mom, you *know* the next project you need... bookshelves! You can never have too many bookshelves. :)

Wow! The bench is fabulous! How memorable for your whole family. I'm sure that will become a family heirloom.
Love the aprons too. Puts me to shame to see a 5 year old sewing and me not able to sew a straight line!
Blessings,
Angela

I'm impressed! That's a great bench. (And a great crew)
