We are back from our trip to San Diego! We had a great time! I thought I would post a little of what we did each day.
Let's start with Friday:
We drove down to Santa Ana and went to the
Bower Museum to see the
Mummies Exhibit. I had heard about this exhibit about 2 years ago from a couple of homeschool families who had seen it. They told us is was better than the
King Tut traveling exhibit. (Which is $75.00 a person!) It was AWESOME!!! The kids loved it! I had to laugh because when we 1st came in a well meaning
docent told us that the
Kidseum down the street was more appropriate for our kids. Little did she know we had planned our whole vacation around going to California and seeing this exhibit! LOL We ended up walking through the exhibit at least 3 times and listening to the audio tour. My favorite moment was right after we arrived, My 6 year old daughter saw a case with Amulets in it and said "Wow, look amulets!" My husband said to her "How do you know those are Amulets?" She responded..."Dad, we studied them with Mom. We even made our own when we
mummified Barbies!" The kids really loved that they got to see real mummies. They could not get over being able to see things that were sooooo old.
The museum also had an
Ansel Adams Exhibit. My husband is a huge fan of his work so we were really excited to see this too, Our youngest 2 kiddos were getting pretty tired at this point, so after taking them quickly through the exhibit I took them out to the courtyard to play.
It was a great day! We all loved the Museum and it was fun to just relax and enjoy learning together as a family.
Tune in tomorrow for Old Town San Diego.

Looks like fun! I like how you took photos of the exhibit "posters" outside. I never thought of doing this when you aren't allowed to take photos inside!

My kids would love to see an exhibit on mummies! While we didn't mummify Barbies or GI Joe's, we did excavate one from an Egypt kit we bought. I think they will forever remember our study! They still talk about it and actually know what canopic jar and sarcophagus means. And I love learning right along side them. :-)
Isn't it great being the mom and being able to have fun whenever you want?
