Father's Day Lapbook
Posted in Lapbooks
Instead of making cards for Dad for Father's Day we decided to do a lapbook. Here is what we came up with...
Cover:

Cover Art

dltk-holidays.com/dad/color/bdad2.gif
Inside folder 1 one:

In the middle is a Father's day acrostic poem my 12 year old did, with input from his 6 year old sister.

The Super Dad card was colored by my 3 year old because he is all about superhero and so is Daddy!

The smiley face card we included says "Dad being with you makes me glad!" we all signed it.

Here are the Coupons we used in our lapbook. We put them in a Library card pocket

Inside left flap:

Here is the My Daddy mini book we used.

On the top flap we cut and pasted quotes about fathers we found on the internet.

Fathers_Day_Celebrate_Fathers_Day_with_Quotes.htm
Inside right folder:

On the top right is a couple paragraphs my 12 year old wrote about the origins of Father's Day. Here is what he wrote:
Father’s Day was started in 1910 by a girl who wanted a day to honor her Dad, William Smart. It wasn't made official for years, but it got support from president Calvin Coolidge in 1924, and It was officially declared the 3rd Sunday in June in 1966. It was then a National Holiday.
President Richard Nixon made that a permanent day for Fathers day in 1972. In 1999 it became the 5^th biggest card giving holiday, With over $95,000,000 in Card sales. Now it is one of the biggest holidays of the year.
The garden graphic for mini book contains a letter from me to Dad thanking him for being such a wonderful father.

Maze - help the kids find their Dad to hug! My 6 year old did the maze.

On the right is a songbook we put together, The kids always have fun learning the song on whatever topic we are doing. Plus they can sing them to Dad on Father's Day.

Here is the link to the custom writing paper we used to make a thank you card for Dad My 12 year old wrote Dad a note about how much we appreciate him and why.

Back:

Here is where we made the certificate for the back cover. It was a customizable template I found and came out really cute!

That's it! I hope Dad has as much fun reading it as we had making it for him!

Girl, you are a lapbook maniac! YOu will labbook anything!! (Like the way lapbook just became a verb?)
Kid --"Mom, Joey hit me!"
You -- "Well, dear, why don't you make a lapbook about it?"
You -- "Dinner is going to be late tonight. Sorry."
Kids -- "No problem, Mom, we're making a lapbook about world hunger to take our minds off the starvation we feel."
LOL!
You know I'm kidding, right? I think it's TOTALLY AWESOME! If only I'd planned ahead for a Father's Day lapbook.

Wow! This is really awesome! Thank you so much for sharing. I think I will have my kids do something similar for Grandpa -- wonder if I can find enough graphics for that?

Thanks for posting these! I've printed off a few. Not sure if we'll make a lapbook or not, but the idea is really cute.

Thank you so much for your ideas! I used them with my boys. Just thought I'd share what we did a little differently - For the coupons, we folded an oragami wallet and wrote the quote "A Father carries pictures where his money used to be" - Anonymous
Then when you open it there are the pictures of the boys plus the coupons! We attached it with velcro so it is removable - my boys think it's pretty cool! (www.activityvillage.co.uk) oragami for kids site
Thanks for your great ideas!
