My 3 year old is really into letters right now. He is just now realizing that those letters he learned to sing in his ABC's a month ago can be put together to make words! This week he figured out how to spell his name! He also figured out how to spell Jesus! Nothing could make me happier than the fact that he learned both of these the same week! It is soooooo awesome! He picked up on his name from a song I made up when he was an infant. I spell out his name, then say his name. It's a hokey little song designed just to let him know he's loved. Now it is so heart warming to hear him sing it! But he has gone one better. After he sing the song he adds a new verse! "He sings...J-E-S-U-S, YES! Jesus! He's the King of me!" (Which he got from a song he learned at Awana Cubbies.) His version of the 2 songs combined is a little disjointed, but to me it is beautiful music....The sound of learning and loving it!
We also went to buy him shoes this weekend. I was sure we would be coming home with Spiderman shoes. The kid LOVES Spiderman. However, we walk into Payless and he spots a pair of black high tops on the highest shelf. "I want those!!!" He tells us. We let him try them on and he wants them. I am sure he will change his mind the minute I pay for them, so I am trying to sell him on the Spiderman shoes. He sticks with his choice. Finally I ask him "Why do you want those plain black ones?" "Because they have a Q on them!" he replies. LOL How can I argue with that? I mean there are a zillion pair of Spiderman shoes in the store and only 1 pair that say SHAQ! Indeed he is correct, they have a Q on them! As a homeschool Mom I never get tired of seeing my kids love learning. He may not know who Shaq is, but he loves his new shoes. He makes sure to tell anyone who will listen that they have the letter Q on them! LOL
The greatest thing about this is being my 3rd child he is the one I always feel like I don't do nearly enough with. These kind of things help me to remember that my kids will learn in spite of me!
We have homeschooled our children from the start and we love every minute of it! This is my place to share my thoughts on homeschooling, my kids and living for the Lord. All the while being a little outside the box!!
