It seems like I keep hearing the term "staycation" everywhere I look these days. At first I didn't get what the term met. Then I realized there are A LOT of other people like us who will be "staying" around home instead of going on "vacation" this year. We have several reasons for not taking a vacation this year, not the least of which is that we have two houses we are responsible for since we couldn't sell the one in Las Vegas. There are other factors too. Like $4.00 a gallon gas and the fact that my husband used all his vacation when we moved in April. So over the weekend we attempted to make lemonade out of lemons. We happen to be fortunate to have a lake just 5 miles from our house! We have been wanting to get over there and take a look at it since we moved here in April. So this weekend we actually did it!
Here are a a few of our "staycation" pictures from the weekend.
The boys by the lake.
Smile!
The kids had never been to the lake before. They were a little hesitant about getting in the murky water. They couldn't get over how different the water looks from the ocean water they are use to!
Even our little dare devil was a little unsure.
So dad led the troops into the unknown...
They liked it!
Really liked it!
Once he got wet he had a blast!
My handsome boy.
Mappy Mom!
He always makes me laugh!
On the way out we bought an annual pass so it looks like we will be going to the lake a lot in the next year. YAY!
Looks like a great place to swim and play in the sun. I am surprised at how little people there are. And what ocean are they used to when you lived in Las Vegas?

We have homeschooled our children from the start and we love every minute of it! This is my place to share my thoughts on homeschooling, my kids and living for the Lord. All the while being a little outside the box!!
