This was our least successful craft. We had 11 girls attending and only 2 completely sewed their own sachet. It was a lot of stitching!
Here is my daughter working on her sachet. She was one of the two who did her own. :^)
Here is the other girl that stuck it out and made the sachet. I love that happy proud look on her face! She is accompanied by some dedicated mom's that took up the stitching when their daughter little fingers gave out!
The rest of the girls had plenty of fun anyway.
Here is my daughter with her pleased with her finished project.
I am torn as to whether or not to do any more sewing project for the club. I think it is good for the girls to experience what it would have been like to have learned to sew as girls did in the early 1900's. (There is a big emphasis in the Samantha books that she spent one hour every afternoon sewing with her grandmother to properly learn how to sew.) But then if the mom's end up doing all the sewing what's the point? (Although it was fun for all the mom's to chat while sewing together. So not all was lost!) I'll let you know what I decide.
Happy Homeschooling,
Jamin
