Here is what we did for weeks 7 and 8 of our American Girl Club. These 2 weeks are based on book 4 of the Samantha series which is called Happy Birthday Samantha and takes place in the spring. So even though it's Winter all around us, we have been celebrating Spring!
For week 7:
The girls came having read the 1st 3 chapters of book 4 and we started the night with 3 discussion questions for each chapter.
We read from about weddings of the period in the Welcome to Samantha's World Book. (Uncle Gard had gotten married since the last book. I was disappointed that they didn't have a book about the wedding!)
Craft - the girls made pressed flower bookmarks (Remember it's Spring in Samantha's world! LOL) and paper chains.
Snack - sugar cookies
Here is a picture of the May Day Baskets the girls made:
Here is the wedding favor:
Bookmark: My daughter did this completely on her own. I thought it came out SO cute!
These all turned out to be favorite projects with the girls because they could do them all by themselves. We had several sewing projects in a row and while they liked them, the ended up being pretty mom involved. The only thing the mom's helped with any of these was making the tassels for the bookmarks. (Which the girls could have done because they learned to make those when we made the Turkish pillows.)

This look like so much fun! My daughters would love it! We used to have a doll club that some of the daughters 12 and 13 years old did for the younger ones which was similar, but alas, they grew up and there wasn't a group of similar age girls to take over. The beauty of it for the moms was the girls did it all and we chatted. Have fun with it!
We have homeschooled our children from the start and we love every minute of it! This is my place to share my thoughts on homeschooling, my kids and living for the Lord. All the while being a little outside the box!!
