Yesterday was our first Resurrection Party in our new location. This was one of our favorite homeschool events when we lived in Las Vegas, so the kids asked me to organize one here. Last Easter we were still staying at our friends house looking for a place to live. What a difference a year makes!
So here is what we did for the Resurrection Party...
When each family arrived and signed in they got a bag to collect eggs in. Once everyone arrived we had 12 people (representing the 12 disciples.) each scatter about the park and holding a bag with eggs numbered 1 to 12. The object of the hunt is to run around and find all 12 eggs in order. The "disciples" can only say YES or NO. So the kids run up and say "Do you have egg #one?" and the person holding the eggs will either say NO, or YES and then give them an egg.
The hunt is on!
The "disciples" came in all sizes.
Still searching....
Found one!
My youngest and a friend comparing notes on what eggs they had found. :^)
Once they have all the eggs they came to the cupcake station and traded in their eggs for a cupcake which they got to decorate.
They also got a carrot shaped goodie bag once they turned in their 12 eggs.
Did I mention the cupcakes were YUMMY! :^)
After the cupcakes were eaten one of the mom's read the book Benjamin's Box and used the felt board pieces to go with it.
First we had a prayer.
Then we had the story...
After the egg hunt the teens that came along to help out got a chance to visit.
Then we had a potluck lunch!
Of course there was plenty of time to play with friends too!
We ended up with 41 kids from 15 families attending. It was a fun day!
We have homeschooled our children from the start and we love every minute of it! This is my place to share my thoughts on homeschooling, my kids and living for the Lord. All the while being a little outside the box!!
