I have a confession to make. I am a cup half-full kind of person. I tend to see the bright side of things. I have been reading back over some of my posts and I realize I may lead people to believe my children are perfect! Well, they are perfectly made by God, but they also have that sin nature we all come pre-programmed with. So here’s my confession. Sometimes my little darlings DRIVE ME CRAZY!! (Gasp, okay I said it! LOL)I have always been a journal keeper. But, here’s the problem. I tend to put a positive spin on everything! Once when my oldest son was about a year old my husband picked up my journal and started reading it. After a few pages he asked me “Have you been living in the same house I have for the last 12 months?” Our oldest was a difficult baby. He entered the world screaming and didn’t stop for a full year. He had colic that we thought would never end. He started teething (I swear) at 2 months and didn’t cut his first tooth until he was 11 ˝ months old. Before he was 4 months old I had bought the book “Raising Your Spirited Child”. My Mother in Law was with me when I bought it. She had just flown in for a visit and hadn’t spent much time with the baby yet. She asked me how I knew he was going to be “Spirited” I replied “Oh, you’ll know too in a few days!” LOL So what did my journal of his first year say. Nothing but glowing reports and the gushing love of a new Mom! When he grows up he’ll absolutely be positive he was the best baby ever. I will have to fill my future daughter-in-law in before they have children!
So, read at your own risk. Know that my children are as imperfect as any you have ever met. Know that I am just incredibly in love with them and see them through rose colored glasses! As a parent it is my goal to love my children as the words of 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 best express:
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8
