I am in the process of making 5 more purses to use as goodie bags for my daughters birthday party next weekend. Once you start making these things it's just addictive!
Per the request of homesklr here are the instructions for making purses:
You will need 10 juice pouches washed and dried.
Sew two pouches together side by side to make front and 2 more to make the back. I use a LARGE zigzag stich and cotton thread. You will want to use scotch tape to hold the pieces together while you sew. They do slip & slid! (Also have a towel handy, no matter how dry I think they are a few always start leaking as the needle pokes holes in them.)
Once you have your front and back made take 2 more pouches and lay them together overlapping in the opposite direction of the fronts. You will need to lay the bottom pieces over the side piece to figure out the right size. The tape and the bottom peices togther.
Now take 2 more bags and cut them so you can open them up. You will cut 3 sides leaving the bottom attached. Trifold the bag to create the handle. Use tape to position your handles. You will just have to fuss with it until you figure out the best way to do it. Some bags are more cooperative thn others to work with. Use tape to position them on the front and back and stitch down.
You will now have a front with handles, back with handles and a bottom. With wrong sides together stitch sides to bottom.
Now you will do the same thing. Wrong sides together use 2 more bags to attach the sides to bottom.
You are now at the hardest part. Stictch up the 4 remaining open seams. It's a little tricky. The more you make the better you'll get.
Your done....
Except for trim! Some of mine I have left without trim, my boys use them for toting hotwheel cars and music CD's (Works out these are the perfect size for music CD's) I think my husband might even have one in his car with CD's in it! For the girls go crazy with trim. I have used boas & bead trim, but the sky is the limit. I hot glue my trim on and it seems to hold fine.
Enjoy!
(If anyone wants to know how I made the wallet post a comment and I will give directions for that too.)
