Over on The Company Porch they
have a cute little write up on "You Know Your A Mom When".
I have to say most of them most of them fit me to a T! But, there
were 2 lines that took my by surprise.
You can't bear the thought of your son's first girlfriend.
You hate the thought of his wife even more.
Maybe it's because I had a really great mother-in-law,
but I look forward to the day my kids get married! Long before I
had kids one of my Christian bosses who had 9 kids told me he was
already praying for his children's spouses. I thought that was a
fabulous idea. As soon as my first child was born I started
praying for his future spouse on a regualr basis. Now that I have
3 kids I pray for each of their future spouses. I have prayed for
their parents, for their spiritual upbringing, their Pastors and Sunday
School teacher, teachers(although I am hoping they are homeschooled!),
friend, siblings, etc. Pretty much as I have prayed about things
in my kids lives I have also lifted up my future kids-in-law. I
think doing this through the years has really endeared these future
relationships to me. I am really looking forward to the day I
meet these kids I have prayed for. I look forward to seeing how
God has worked in their lives. I look forward to seeing their
relationships bloom with my children. I look forward to seeing
what kind of parents they will be.
I hope that I will be a
good mother-in-law and that I will have a good relationship with my
kids-in-law. I guess I should remember to pray about that too!
We have homeschooled our children from the start and we love every minute of it! This is my place to share my thoughts on homeschooling, my kids and living for the Lord. All the while being a little outside the box!!
