Mommy & Me Tea
Posted in My Kids
Years ago a couple of my girlfriends
introduced me to the wonderful tradition of High Tea. I love
having tea with the girls! It's so relaxing and calming. 11
years ago on my 30th Birthday they took me to my favorite Tea
House. While we were there a group of little girls were all
dressed up having a Birthday Tea. I thought it looked so fun and
knew that if I ever had a daughter I wanted to have Tea Party's with
her. Well, 6 years later my daughter finally came along.
Last year for Easter she got an adorable tea set. She has several
little play sets, but this one is smaller then an adult set, but big
enough for little girl to pour a proper cup of tea. My daughter
and I enjoy having tea for two frequently, but yesterday we hosted our
very first full fledge Mommy and Me Tea in honor of my daughters 5th
Birthday. It was lovely.
When we sent out the
invitations we asked the girls to wear their best party dress.
For the goodie bags I got each of them a feather boa, lace gloves and
made them
Capri Sun Purses.
We dressed the tables with denim table clothes, lavender napkins, and
our best tea sevices. For the centerpiece on the girls table I
got a birthday balloon bouquet. On the Mom's table I took a
small basket and pushed a head of iceberg lettuce into it. then I
took strawberrys on wooden sticks and made a edible arrangement.
We served an assortment of teas along with a variety of tea sandwiches,
quiche, scones with berries and whipped cream and of course birthday
cake.
A lovely time was had by all and I'm sure we will have many more Mommy & Me Teas in the future.

The party looks awesome! Thanks for sharing pics. I actually took a cake decorating class when I was in jr. high and learned how to make those Barbie Doll cakes.... that made me smile to remember that. :)
Thanks for your comment too!

Mar. 7, 2006 - WHAT A WONDERFUL IDEA

I love this idea. And I really have to know: what is a capri sun purse? I clicked on the link and it told me it was gone. Would love to know about this.
I collect tea pots and have since I was 14. When I got married, we used them as the large centerpiece on the food table. We had over 30. It's become a tradition in my family. My niece loves to get dolls now that have tea sets, so she and I can play together. For her 4th b-day, she had a tea party where the girls got dressed up and so did the boys (my son was a cowboy and the other little boy was a pirate... the good kind). It was so much fun. I can't wait for my daughter's 4th birthday. But I truly love your idea for the adult bouquette. It looks like roses in the picture. I love this idea. Please share your tea party experiences with me sometime. I"d love to start this tradition w/ my daughter when she is old enough
