Not long ago I was surfing blogs and someone had posed the question "What item that you use for homeschooling could you not live without?" I thought it was great question, but I couldn't come up with just one item right away. Well, after thinking about it for awhile I have come up with an item. We call it "the crate" and it goes everywhere with us. I bought it a couple of years ago at a Scrapbooking Convention. I originally thought I would use it for storing my scrapbooking paper, but after few months I found that I needed to find a new home for my paper because the crate was spending all it's time being used for homeschooling travels.Sometimes I think the term homeschooling is a misnomer! We seem to spend as much or more time in the car, at the library, on trips, on field trips, at co-op classes, at friends houses, at the park and at church than we do at home. I sometimes think Carschooling would be a more fitting name for what we do! LOL But, the crate seems to make being on the move much easier. I don't know how we ever checked out libray books without it! We take it to co-op with the supplies we need, it goes to church when I am teaching classes, it goes to the park and to friends houses with things we need for the outing. It's a huge help and the thing I like best about it is that a child as young as 3 can grab the handle and pull it along behind them.
Yes, after much thinking I am sure the crate is our must have homeschooling item. What's your?

2 year old little brother getting in on the action!
No, he cannot yet pull the crate, but he thinks he can!

Here is a site that sells crates like we use. Mine is what they call the Large size one. I highly recommend it!
